Breakin Period for Built Short Block?

Hi everyone,

With so many built blocks now out there, what is the recommended break in period/time frame before heading to the track? How many miles?

Thanks,

HORSE9

Honestly, beat on it hard and set those rings quick. The first 20 miles are the most important.

Who's got that link to that one performance article about motor break in.

most of the blocks and heads are used *ahem* ... "seasoned" parts so its really just the rings to worry about, right?

yeah the rings are the main issue for sealing the cylinder up good. thats why you don't put synthetic oil in the motor first off.
