I was cruising to NAPA to go get my Pads for my truck and getting off the highway was a black 02 Saleen S281 with a cobra R hood..As I was approaching the light I saw him weaving in and out of traffic trying to catch up to me..I moved over into a dual left turn lane and he moved over as well once he caught up...Well the left arrow light went and off we went.. His car was sweet looking with the chrome and he had a nice sounding exhaust..Every chance he got he would nail the thing but wasn't really going anywhere...He WOT his car 5 cars ahead of me and I WOT my truck and reeled him in very bad...My buddy told me they arent very fast for 40K bucks....They look good, sound good but it was a dog...He had a guage cluster on his C pillar that made me think he was charged..The guy was pissed, I saw him hit his dash board... Everytime he would WOT his I'd dawg him out really bad....When we came to the next light I saw the poor fellow smoking a cigarette looking back at me in his rear view giving me a nasty look.....It was fun ..Haven't ran my truck in a while against any real competition since i put my pulley on..That run was a waste and got very boring after a while..It was fun just to see him punish that poor car like that. ..

I beat a guy on a Harley (bike) today....

Only satisfaction I got out of it is the fact that I think my new vbody shifts even harder than my old one...

 

 

Unless I am mistaken, the regular S281's are just heavier GT's with 18 inch wheels to turn. Good Kill!

I think power is up 20 horses or so...but yea with the extra weight of the wheels and the body kit it probably evens out...

now the S281E is another story

 

Yeah the only thing they really have emphasis on is the suspension, brembo brakes, Borla exhaust and the optional 3.55 gears.... I think if it was a salleen Extreme it would have been the other way around...

Having owned a S281 and then supercharging it, I have to admit it was a complete waste of money. The car is/was a piece of junk for 40k. With the supercharger, upper pulley, maf, cai, and TB, the car still would not run any better than a 13.85 @ 105. My 95 Cobra would dog the car all day. Now for the Lightning, that is a totally different story ...
