2lb upper, no chip, bullet mufflers, adding 12 inch filter
2lb upper, no chip,2 magnaflow mufflers, adding 12 inch filter
Will my friend notice any gain with the 12inch filter, no box or fresh air, just the filter setup, with a 2lb upper and exhaust? Or will he be at a loss on some aspect of the power band. He recently added 2 magnaflow mufflers with xpipe and said he lost a little low end but supposively its back now that it can spin the tires, which I dont think has anything to do with he has power back, but maybe. What do yall think? Gain power with the filter or lose some?

By the way, what does he run at the track with that setup. I am just curious how he does without a chip. I am thinking about going that route. What are his a/fs also if you know them. Thanks.

whats up vinny, im the friend andrew is talkin about. my best time so far is a 13.5 but that was before the exhaust, so i dunno if the exhaust helped or hurt me any. like he said i think i lost some low end but i feel like i may have gained a little high end. i dont think i should have lost low end, is there anything you would suggest i do to fix it? also i've talked to two different guys at tommy vaughn ford, the svt dealership of houston, one being mark of Lightning Force Performance, and both of them said that i would definitely notice a difference with his set up. what do you think?
Don't waste the money on an open filter setup unless you want to look cool, have extra money to spend, are going with at least more than 3-4 psi extra boost, have extra money to spend, want to hear the blower better, have extra money to spend.
Cheaper investment:
get a drop in K&N for the factory box. Remove lower part of factory box. Run cheap 3-4" dryer vent ducting from under truck to area below filter. Keep filter in place with zip ties or similar.
Total, under $60

I just put on the 12" open air filter ($104.00 shipped) that I got form Mark at LFP. The truck is stock other than the filter and it feels as if I picked up some top end power. I havent dynoed the changes but I am getting a max of 10.5 lbs of boost now with no other changes. Before the filter I was maxing at 8 - 8.5 lbs of boost. I also built the DIY trash can heat shield and installed it with the filter.
