99 L Fuel Pump Questions

How do you know when one of the tubes came loose form the fuel pump?
What are the symptoms?

Is there a step by stpe on fixing this?

My truck seems hard to start sometimes and seems to have lost power on full throttle.

could this be the problem?

if one of the hoses were to have popped off you wouldn't be able to start it.

well we just had to drop mike's tank (98svt_99svt from miloc) his hose popped off of the one of the fuel pumps on I-696 its symptoms was it stalled out on him and when you went to go start it it wouldn't even build any pressure. we dropped the tank pulled out the pump assembly and sure enough the pinch clamp had let loose and the hose popped off. we replaced all the clamps with screw type clamps and reinstalled.

check the obvious 1st though

fuel filter

and if possible check fuel pressure and see if its dropping pressure at full throttle.

if you want even clean the injectors and have them flowed www.cprracing.com 248 398-2397 does this but not sure what his current prices are since he does mine for free under the sponsership i arranged with him.

DO NOT send injectors or anything else to the guys at CPR racing. I have never dealt with people so incompetent. I haven't been the only one either. CAlightning has had problems with them delivering.

Do not believe what they say! I'm still waiting on a fuel pressure regulator I was supposed to have a few weeks ago that I already paid for. Whenever I talk to those guys they say it is shipping out. That has been several times since April 16th...

whoa

well I'll start with the fuel filter,
Josh said he could hook up a pressure gauge to the fuel and check that.

Thanks Rob.

I can't believe I agree with Easter ! Horrible experience. Bad rails, leaky regulator. Bad rails have still not been repaced. I didn't even bother returning the regulator. Went and bought an Aeromotive regulator, Works rails.

I-menace, when I blew one of the hoses off in tank....truck was ok until 1/4 throttle then there was no power. Fuel starved. If you have this do not push it, you will lean it out. Very easy to check ur pressure with a gauge. I believe your pressure should be about 39 at idle and somewhere around 50-60 at WOT, depending on how much boost your pushing. This is without vacumn.

cal and easter i totally agree w/ you on the lack of professional business conduct as of late. i do know that the rails easter recieved do fit and function as they are suppose to. i personally tried them out. they do have a good product to offer but unfortunatly they dont seam to want to get off the pot if you will. it does cost money to make money. but as far as sending them injectors h wouldn't he could drive up their and watch a they flow them. as far as a regulator (easter try to get a refund if you can and get a sx or aeromotive that way you wont have to worry if it will leak like cal's

that being said e-mail me if you want to further discuss this topic off line

With stock pumps my pressure is 39 at idle no vacuum and it goes up 1:1 with the boost. I don't know what the max is, but at 14 psi my fuel pressure gauge reads 53psi.
