OoouuuWeeeee!! JLP Shortblock & KB

Finally got my plugs in (after frying one on the way home from engine installation). Pulled the same one that melted after driving around for awhile, looked fine. Think perhaps the wrong gapping of the Denso's caused the failure. Anyway, tonite I took her out to a straight stretch to see what 14#'s of boost felt like.
Wow!! Smoked my new Nitto 305 DR's almost all the way through 2nd. Man it was pulling sweet. Think I am going to like my new set-up.

Sweet! Glad you got everything worked out.

Are you planning on running it at the track sometime this summer?

AWESOME Ak.Silver2K
Johnny has a great short block for a great price
Hope to not have to get one but if and when it happens
thats what mine gets

I don't know about that wrong Gap theroy on the burnt plug though AK ? WHAT WAS THE GAP ?
USUALLY THERE'S A REASON IT BURNT ???
Keep a eye on it.
Did Johnny Dyno it ??
Get any A/F readings ??
I assume he did and it's good, so that would leave me to believe
a possible fuel problem Bro, aka injector, filter, line, pumps, bad gas, etc...

It must be great having that Mod done
Good Luck Silver BEAST

They were gapped at 050, pretty wide. I am watching the #3 in
passenger side plug though, that was the one the had the damage. I would think, like you, it had to be something else, but JJ said gapped that wide, it could self destruct. Anyway, I plan on making sure that was the prob. I would love to have it Dyno'd and tuned at Johnny's, unfortunately I am thousands of miles away from him. If this plug fries though, I will have it hauled to Anchorage and have the injectors flow tested. For now though, I hope it was just the gap.

How do you get hold of anyone at JLP? I've been calling for days and sent an e-mail on Monday. If I have to pay for my motor I will not pay for a stock Ford shortblock. I got a price and talked to REM but I can't get a response out of JLP.

BTW Silver

Why .050 ???

This gapping is getting totally out of control lately.
Depending on who you talk to ""these days"" it seems people are gapping from .025 all the way the **** up to .050
WTF is up with that ????

I stick with .038-.040 running 8 differant combo's, and it's never done me wrong, idles great, pulls great, runs great.

Low Timing Program was @ 13-15 Degree's (is now 16)
4lb all gas
6lb all gas
4lb nitrous
6lb nitrous

Hi timing program was 16 Degree's (is now 18)
4lb all gas
6lb all gas
4lb nitrous
6lb nitrous

The mechanic that put my shortblock and KB in, forgot what gap I had told him, so he went to the Denso website where they recommend .050 for almost all their plugs. JL says .035, which is where mine are now gapped. Think JJ said the same.

SVTinAlaska- yes I do plan on going to Polar sometime this summer. I got a 2 7/8 ? pulley from JL just the other day, which should put my boost around the 18# range. Think I will wait to go to the strip untill I have it in and running right.

Thanks, I am quite happy with it, was always a little worried about ventilating my stock block out in the middle of no where. Now all I have to worry about is the TRANNIE

No it wasn't me. Must of been Tundra. He's got a fast 99 with straight pipes. He was turning mid 13's stock, with just the straight pipes.
