Question Good 1" front drop spring?

I'm looking to drop the front a full 1". I am looking for a good spring (or other method) that won't make the ride too much stiffer or too much softer. Also don't want to have to replace the shocks (i.e. too stiff spring). Thanks in advance!

cut 1/2 a coil off your stock springs. Ride feels like stock and all that, just an inch lower

Had mine in for about 300-400 miles so far

You can always get a hold of Stan and have him fab something up for you. He can do all sorts of rates...

I've been looking around and found these companies that offer front springs that bring the truck down around the 1" range.

Ground Force - 3/4" to 1" (Spring offered in Ford Racing kit)
Belltech - 1" (supposedly stiffer than stock)
Hotchkis - 1" (quite a bit stiffer than stock/might need better shocks)
Eibach - 1" to 1.5" (good ride but drop varies alot)
Steeda - 1.5?" (?Haven't heard anything about these?)

Anyone have any rants or raves about any of these to help me decide?

I have heard that the Eibach's coils touch being a progressive spring. Also, it gives you about a 1.5 drop. Just something to think about....

This may help you decide:

Spring rates in order of firmness (lower #'s are closer to stock ride quality, higher #'s will handle better but require differently valved shocks):

Stock, 650
FRPP/Ground Force, 700
Eibachs, start at 342lbs and finish at 942.
Hotchkis coils, 950
Belltech coils, 1000
Ruslow, any rate you want

I just got a set of Western Chassis Coils called "Smooth Rider"
You can get them from Sporttruckdirect.com

Western Chassis Smooth Rider front coils springs are the ultimate for those who want the lowered look without all the drawbacks normally associated with a drop coil. You'll especially appreciate the tamed roadability you'll receive from these USA-made coils compared to the substandard ride quality from our the competition's Mexican- made cheap-o coils. Use your head, you can't get a decent quality, nice riding coil for $20. Smooth Riders are lifetime guaranteed and are coated with a hammertone black or silver-gray finish depending on the application

Cool

I bought the ground force 1-3 setup. It lowered about 0.75" in the front and I feel the fronts stiffness is no different than was stock. Maybe just a hair firmer in the corners/less body roll. But then again that could be the bump stops too?

I'm really not one to "lower" vehicles so I did'nt want to go very much to begin with. But now after having done it and seeing others lightnings lowered? If I were to do it again, I'd go 1.5 in the front and the same 3" in the rear. (1.5" actual)

WOT

I went with the groundforce/frpp kit, very nice ride, like stock and seem to hold up real well. Good price and a nice ford blue color

HAHA ya I saw that too ...that's f'd up! But I thought the western chassis springs were a 2" drop spring? Is that another one of those where it's 2" on a regular f150 and 1" on a lightning?

"Magic!" Either the pic started out sharp and I blurred the rest... or my neck is very good at panning the camera quickly. See the hi-res wallpaper if you missed it: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=119098

I am with Harley on this one.cut some off the coil but do NOT use anything that will heat the spring up since that will anneal it.I like "the not to stiff" part.Kinda like it is to expensive. Its all in the eye of the individual.Stan
