Ouch, that is nasty. Did it detonate and chew a plug?

Well, since that's on the side of the cylinder, there's no way that's from any kind of "extra load" on the motor. That's a mechanical failure from either a misbuild, or defective parts. Only thing I can see doing that, is a broken ring, foreign object in the wrist pin hole, or the wrist pin itself, although I'd think if the pin was somehow sticking out, there would be two lines, not one. I don't see ANY way Ford can claim that's from aftermarket parts, especially with only 4000 miles.

Thanks Sal, you are a great asset to this community! I should have taken a pic of the head. It is perfect and the plug looks brand new (just like the other 3). The shop foreman thinks it was improper ring end gap. Now do you see why I am so pi$$ed off at Ford? If any mod I did to the truck cause this or any problem I would not expect Ford to fix it. This looks to me like a problem at assembly!

Hope you get that straightened out Jerry. Looks to me like Ford should foot the bill on this one!

Jerry I'll go kick some ford and SVT butt with you!

jerry just measure the length of that scratch and then figure out if it was the ring, should be pretty easy when you disassemble the motor. you should be able to tell which ring it is too easy.

Thanks for the support Killa! At this point Ford has told the dealer not to touch it unless I'm paying. No doubt as soon as we take it apart the failure will be obvious.

Wow, Jerry, that really sucks. Did the corporate warranty rep come out and look at it when they started to give you a hassle about the claim? Or did they do it over the phone?

god that pisses me off, I'm like so tempted to tell ford to go screw themselves for the rest of there life you know.

I hate to say it but I would be allot happier in somthing like a benz or a lexus that is allot better built and I know they would take care of if somthing got damaged. I know a couple guys with modded benzes and they bring there stuff in all the time with no problems. then again they only bring there stuff in for routine check ups cause nothing really ever breaks.

I'm really going to have to wait a year or more when the new Gen 3 comes out and I'm not sure I'll even buy one if they have the same trama.

This winter thought I'm probably going to drop the truck off at McCoy motorsports and have them just do the entire truck over. They know blown vehicles really good and with credentials like them you can't go wrong. 9 second s 10's and sy ty's!!!! www.tobefast.com if anyone is interested. there down in kentucky.

If you use some of the logic exhibited here you should not even make a claim.

Then again it is nice to know you are innocent untill proven guilty....

what do you think Jerry?

Dan, Ford sent a rep in to look at the truck when the dealer told Ford it needed a motor. I was told today the rep is NOT a Ford employee. The dealer said they thought I should get a complete motor with supercharger and that's what they recomended to Ford.

Good luck Jerry....

Even if you have modified your truck....it should be repaired under warranty.

I talked to a tech guy at Banks today and he said this (Ford warrantys) has become a joke. He said just this week a customer of theirs had his warranty voided on a V-10 in a PU. It had spit a plug and Ford told him to go pound sand because he had a set of Banks headers. He DID NOT have a chip! He did say a few of their customers have fought Ford on this and won.

Good Luck, Jerry.
Yeah, you got a right to be damn pissed!

Well Ford, you claim to read these boards, so care to speak up now????????
Thats frigging crazy to explain that damage done by headers and or chip. How about assembly quality?
