Well I called up SVT direct to find out what exactly I can do about yet another leaking intercooler and they basically told me that due to the time for the recall being over with and the mods on my truck that I wouldn't be able to have one done.

You guys are incredible and the fact that you even suggest that my mods would effect my intercooler from leaking just says how stupid you people really are.

So I guess I'm stuck paying for this huh ford. thanks a$$holes!

 

$468 bucks down the drain.

Maybe I'll have to have it fixed if possible

How about checking local and distance Junkyards for
a wrecked 01-03 Lightning with an INTACT intercooler...
This may be worth pursuing...good luck RT.

 

thats a good idea, but I don't know how safe I would feel with a used one after this you know?

My buddy owns a high performance shop in tennesse and they make custom intercoolers and aftercoolers so I'm going to call him today and see if he wan't to experiment with mine and do somthing custom.

 

Find out how much an intercooler is. If you are half as much as good as me at working on my truck, you can do it yourself. It is really easy. You may want to have a buddy help you taking off/on the blower. It wouldn't take you but a couple hours if that. Simple hand tools is all you need.

 

I paid $600 for a new spercharger and an intercooler. Maybe you could find a deal like that.

Ford decided not to cover my starter under the factory warranty, the IAC, or the fog lights again. So, I agree with you that Ford sucks. I only have 28K on my 2001...

I wouldn't let a dealer touch my truck after come of the things I've seen.

 

they wouldn't cover a fog lamp for me ever even when I was stock, I don't know how people get those fixed under warrenty.

Then shane takes his truck in with all his mods and gets a new tranny, maybe I got bad luck!

Well....

First try to find an intercooler from an 03 then if necessary work your way down to the 01...Its pretty safe to say that if its an
02 or 03 the mileage should be low...

Second try to examine it yourself...if you have a friend with experience with solder welds and metallurgy take him with you.
There is some risk here but probably not much especially if the
wrecked L was damaged from the rear or from the rear sides.

I can do that at hooters, but not at the dealer. I need the right atmosphere

I have never had a question asked on the FOGS, and some of
my friends have also gotten them replaced under warranty at
the same dealer. This dealer respects the SVT ideals and treats
most of us with respect and knows that we love our trucks more
than the wives ... (Or husbands in some cases!)

Do you have the "fixed" intercooler? If not, the 01-03 set up won't bolt right in. The blower bolt pattern is different.

 

I think Joe has an 01 blower? I remember it saying "SVT" instead of Eaton...
