"Hey guys.I modded the shizit out of my truck and ran the hell out of it so I could brag on the internet but now its broke.I know that Ive read about a million posts about how Ford will void my warranty for the last 4 years but now its time for me to step up to the plate and be a man..... and Im not. I want all the chip sellers that i bought mods from and Ford to buy me a new motor. If you dont I will buy a Chevy and hold my breath until you do."

This should be a lesson for anybody else thats barely makin your truck note.If you cant pay, dont play.Maybe you should take up bowling.

First off none of you get it. I'm not saying it's the aftermarket guy's fault. I'm saying if I was them I would want to be able to sell parts that, if they did not cause a problem, would not void the waranty. I don't blame Sal and Jim. I have a Banks chip in my V-10 motorhome. Banks says it will NOT void the warranty. How does Ford know what cause my problem when we don't even know what failed yet? I had a 99 L for three years and not one problem (and it was modded alot more than this 03). This 03 has been a pile. Almost every mod I bought for the 03 had something wrong with it . And to read your comments you think this ***** is my fault? Yes I know you gotta pay to play. If the chip or headers caused the problem (whatever it is) I would not expect or want Ford to pay. If the chip caused the problem it should be on me and no one else!

Most of you have no idea what you are talking about. I have been nothing but nice (so far). The dealership is even on my side.

One good thing about this though......I found out what great friends I have on this board.

Oh by the way "take up bowling" I already bowl and have two 300 game rings, so think of something else.

Jerry

I think maybe you should go back and edit your first post, because eveyone who reads it obviously took it the way I did. Your post totally looks like your pinning the blame on the vendors.

Then you go on to say how say how you had your 99 with all kinds of mods and no trouble.....but if chevy made a fast truck in 99, you wouldn't have had to buy this ford piece of ****

YOU bought the truck(s), YOU bought the mods, YOU put or had them put on, now YOU have the problem. Why does everyone else have to get involved???? I know JDM's instruction manuals say and I quote " Warning:Theseparts have been designed and are intended for off-highway use only. Installation on vehicles intended for use on public roads my violate U.S., Canadian, state or provincial laws and regulations including hose related to emissions requirements and motor vehicle safety standards."

It doesn't say anywhere "will not void your manufacturers warranty".

Sorry but you've been around since 99, and you read 206 posts just like this one and you should have known that if you have mods and your engine goes, there's gonna be a battle.

Get your truck out of there and put a built block in there and your piece of crap should be just fine. Other than that, take the mods off and run it the way it was intended to run, the way it came out of the factory, which is the way ford offers ther warranty on it.

Good luck.

Only 206? I think there have been more

I agree with Jerry's logic but again, I would not use such strong words as "expect" when you're basically asking for something that no one is obligated to provide for you.

For the "you gotta pay to play" police, remember that this is only true if the aftermarket part is the one that is causing the problem. Don't go around posting that phrase if someone is complaining about a cracked fog and they have a chip.

As for affording to fix something that should be under warranty, it's not about money. I can afford X amount of stuff for my truck but if it's not my fault and if it should be under warranty, why should I have to foot the bill?

I have to disagree with a few.

With every JDM superchip sold there is a card in there that says" The installation and use of this product does not void the new - vehicle warranty nor should it be cause for the vehicle to fail an emissions test."Notify superchips INC if either of these situations occur.

Personally I would not attempt to bring my truck in for warranty work with a modded computer because ive read these boards long enough and already went 10 rounds(and won) with Ford on this.

But here is the problem. Some tuners do not care about anything except for the $$.ya they try and NOT blow up your truck but some actually do.They SHOULD be somewhat responsible.Ive learned over the years that not too many stock trucks blow up.Just because you are not hearing detonation and your truck seems to be running fine,It could be damaging it without even knowing it.I would not be so quick to say the chip DIDNT blow the truck up.Ford should not void any warranty until proof is made. That i feel is probally the most unfair of any of it.I think who ever has blown up their truck should at least get a fair trial .Although i will say,EVERYBODY on here should know by now that if you got a chip, your warranty is toast and you shouldnt be mad,you know what your getting into when you scrape the contacts. Some of you trust your tuners so well but where are they when it goes BOOM .No matter what blew the truck up,I would try and scam my way through it rather than be honest about it.We should all know by now that Ford WILL try and scam out of it even on things as simple as an air filter so you might as well try and screw tham tooI would not be upset however if FORD caught on. I figure it would be my fault. So as I see it its everybodys fault.

Tuner for making too aggressive chips

customers (KNOWINGLY) installing them knowing there warranty is junk whether its right or wrong.

Ford just voiding warranty whether its right or wrong.

So in the end,You got superchips saying this will NOT blow up your truck.Ford saying it did.Problem is FORD has the final answer and even regis will tell you,It could be worth up to 1 milllion dollars............

In that case, Superchips should back their statement or face a lawsuit on grounds of misleading advertising. Of course, the case would be more solid if the warranty was voided on an otherwise stock chip with JUST the chip. Also, maybe they are referring to a chip with files Superchip themselves put out and not custom-burned ones? IMO, that would leave Superchips out in the open and probably would not be a good decision to include custom chips in their statement.

I am surprised to see Superchips saying this on the card though. Sounds like if I were in this situation (if I were chipped that is ) I would try to have Superchips and Ford duke it out....

All i know is im keeping that card just in case. Legally somebody is on the hook.Superchips ALLOWS tuners to program these chips therefore with pratically ANY lawyer,The battle could be won easily if the said person wanted to spend some $$ on a lawyer.Watch how fast they stop putting in those pretty green card in there

All they have to do is examine the piston for detonation and bam, case lost. Doesnt matter what superchips has printed on a card.

90% of all rod tosses show severe detonation on the top of the piston. How people cannot hear it is beyond me.. When you hear that sand rattling noise... lift of the throttle guys.
