Bell Tech 2" shackles

Ok I just got in my Bell tech 2" shackles today and I was wanting to install them myself!!! I was wondering how hard is it and is it something I can do in my garage no problem!!! I mean I have jacks and all the tools just didn't know how hard it was to install. If some of you guys can help me out I will really appreciate it !!! Thank you

It's pretty easy actually. And that's coming from me.

I did this:

1) Jacked it up high enough to get the wheels (both) off the ground and put jack stands under the tow hitch. I put rags on them so I didn't scratch the hitch.

2) Doing a side at a time, loosened both nut/bolts, upper and lower. Don't remember sizes.

3) Removed the lower nut. Put the floor jack under the pumpkin to manuever the rear up or down to loosen up the tension on the bolt and then removed it. Don't worry..the rear isn't gonna come crashing down, as I thought. ;o)

4) Removed upper bolt / shackle by jacking the rear end up high enough to clear the frame.

5) Put some lube on the rubber bushings of the new shackle.

6) Installed the lower bolts first then jacked the rear up high enough to clear the frame to get the top bolt back in.

7) Snug both bolts, lower and upper. Don't go nuts on the torque yet.

8) Do the other side, same process.

9) Lower the truck on a LEVEL surface, hop in the bed and jump around around a little. Tighten all 4 nut/bolts. I didn't use a torque wrench. I just went a little ape on them. No problems since.

Love the look. Really gets rid of that stock rake without causing any problems with pinion angle and clearances.

Sorry if I missed anything, this was 8 months ago. Couple that with the fact that I'm a dumbass and something is bound to be missing / wrong.

Good luck!!

Dan
