Upgrading the steering wheel?

How simple is it to add the '03 perforated wheel to earlier models? Anybody ever done it? And how about the FR500 Mustang wheel...Will that fit?

Hey Dice,
No one else has posted so I will drift off your subject a little. Have thought about custom work. Here is real carbon fiber wheel with matching yellow leather.

The way to tell what wheels will work is to match airbag part numbers. If the airbag numbers match it should work.

Try this place. http://www.american-stitches.com/ams...es/index2.html

Cool, thanks. I like that CF look a lot. Just wondering if it's abailable with different color leather?

It's got perforated leather instead of the smooth leather.

Almost like this, but I don't think it's as thick.

This is pretty badass too. They can match any exterior color too. Looks like True Blue.

I agree with you guys. I always thought that the Explorer steering wheel they use on these is cheesy.

I tried to get a 03L steering wheel for my 01L from Ford. The 03L has the same part number as the 99-02 L in Ford's computer. My local Ford dealer ordered a 03L wheel for me and when it showed up, it was the same one I had on my 01L.

He called Ford and they said they don't have a new part number for the 03L yet?????

They make some really pretty stuff, but none of their aftermarket wheels have airbags.
