Eaten by SS!!

Yo, I just bought my 03 L. And tonight, with about 1000 on the ODO, and bone stock..I got eaten by a Camaro SS. We ran twice from about 50-120. And he had about 3 carlenghts on me each time...wow, it sounded amazing...those things are fastttt....umm, what do i need to atleast keep up or put up a better fight...Is chip, pulley, intake enough...or is more needed...It could have been modded, but he didnt stop for me to ask, so Im guessing it was at or near stock...help

I think he is probably modded some, but of course he has the advantage at those speeds. I think you would fare well with a 4lber and some goodies. More experienced people should chime in. No shame losing to an SS tho, those things haul ***.

Just do it from a stop next time.

Now that I think about it, it did have the exhaust pipes in the center, is it true that its a 345hp SS??!?? Can anyone verify this??!?

depending on year. I dont know ss to well but the 2002 was 325 hp, dont know what that translates to wheel. But that car is really aerodynamic, specially compared to your brick.

Yea, from what i just read, center exhaust means it had the SLP package which i think includes ram air and high flow exhaust, takin the HP up to 345, which is almost the same as the vettes...but mann was it loud and faaaast!

I gobble up SS's all time around here except for the ones who add the LS6 cam and head package. Those guys are running 12.0's to 11.8's all day long.

Get a 4# pulley, chip, plugs and filter. You will be good to go after that

Nothing to be upset at Johnny

There was a post around here last week about the LS Motor and Camaro's. It seems they are very much under rated and actually cabable of running low 13's 100% Stock. They list it at 13.6 1/4 mi, but I've read many articles showing where people are running even hi 12's 100% stock.

Quite impressive indeed

Forget the mods, next time just make sure you race him near a middle school. His natural urges will FORCE him to turn in so he can flirt and shake his mullet for the young girls.... viola, you win.

I ran a SS the other night, same set up with the exhaust coming out in the middle, i believe they pumpin around 345HP with the SLP set up. I hurt that car somethin fierce, it was great! The reaction you get is the best! I have a 6lb pulley, 2way PSP chip, Filter, and a Factory Tech Valvebody, love the way this truck shifts now, it like catapults you to the next gear, never thought I would like driving a automatic so much! Sorry the post was so long. Thanks Jeff

LOL @ the panty raider

But AmoJohnny, you have no business running a SS from a roll. Any hope you had would be at a dead stop. Put a chip/filter/pulley combo on the truck and you will chit yourself on the change it makes. It will be a completely different truck and you will be better able to handle the time something happens.

But remember two things:

#1- There will ALWAYS be somebody faster

#2- Don't be a fool.......Take it to the track

I was coming home from work last week and there was a camaro ram air behind me at a light. I took off pretty good when the light turned green. He stayed on my tail like he wanted some. I hit the gas hard and took off. He tried to keep up for a few seconds, but kept on falling behind.
A few miles down the road he passed me at a light and turned off. It was then I saw the SS tags.

No shame in not beating that SS. If it had the SLP Quad exhaust chances are it was an '01 or '02. Guys were running 12.8 - 12.9s at 108+ stock. The are definitely underrated from the factory.

My '99 went 13.3 @ 106 bone stock at E-Town where traction is limited. The '00-'02s have a bit more HP with the different intake and EGR delete.

But like everyone has said, Chip, Filter, Pulley = different outcome.

Be safe.

Bone stock they'll whoop you, especially on the top end....

Just simple law of physics. Look at your front end, then look at theirs
