I read it. I'll look at the old tensioner tomorrow. I don't think the problem was because it was hitting the stop, but I'll check. I broke off the stop on the supercharger belt tensioner and have never had a problem, so that may be a good idea.

I think you'll be suprised when you look at it. I got my new one today, and it was amazing how much it had been hitting.

I would kindof like to here from someone else with the pullies that could maybe remove there functioning tensioner and see if it is hitting. I am 99% sure that was my problem; between belts and tensioners I have spent almost $150 just to suport that one mod's problems.

I have the pulleys but not the issue

CB,

couple questions chief.

1. What size belt are you using?

2. The 'stopper' in your pic is on the top side of the tensioner in between the mounting bolts correct?

I've had the pulleys on for over two months, drive it daily, and have no signs of rubbing.

So what accessory pulleys did you change on your truck? And the stop you’re talking about, would that be the stop for, the closed position of the tensioner? Also I assume when driving your truck the tensioner was hitting the stop and that’s what caused it to eventually bend right?

Bob, I started with the belt that came in the "kit", when it was destroyed I went out and found the EXACT same belt, and it happened again. Both times I find where the tensioner stop has been hitting continually.

Sorry to "buck the system" since I do not have a high post count I just don't have any way of knowing what I am talking about, but when it happens to you out in the middle of no where and you find out it will take 2 days for any autoparts store to order you a belt you will remember what I found. It is my suggestion that if you have the pullies ot take the few minutes to remove the three bolts in the tensioner and inspect the stop for damage, but like I said; since I am not one of the "regulars" don't pay attention to me.

Casey,

No flame intended whatsoever in either reply chief..

A 'thanks for the info' should have included in my replies as being left stranded, irregardless of part, is unacceptable and immediate grounds for selling the truck, period.

Again, it wasn't meant in a harsh tone. Only an attempt to gain insight into your issue.

Thanks for the info. I'll be removing and checking my tensioner this week for sure.

That's cool man; it's just no one has wanted to even consider there could be a problem, but I have seen three different people who had the same trouble with there acc. belts, and all of them had underdrive pullies. But, I have not seen anyone complain about acc. belt problems on any other trucks(non underdrive pullies).

If you can; when you check yours, post what you find for everyone

I removed and looked at the new tensioner and it doesn't look like it hit the stops. The old tensioner doesn't look like it hit either. The new tensioner also seems to be a new design. The stops are further apart. I reved the engine and looked at the tensioner movement. While the tensioner arm stop didn't hit either of the other stops it was closer to the left stop.

I'll try to post some pics.

update

Casey, easter, all,

Removed the accessory tensioner today to investigate signs of damage/rubbing.

The results? No rubbing but a good excuse to Dremel something, or something.
