move cd player and a/c controls, mount in-dash LCD ?

i am thinking of removing the factory deck and a/c controls, and in the empty spot in the dash, flush mounting a 9"-or-so LCD monitor..

then get an aftermarket deck and mount it and the a/c controls into some kind of custom small console that fits below where the a/c controls are now.

I dont really want to go thru the hassle and expense of chopping the seats and putting in an expy console unless I have to

how easy and/or feasible would something like this be? anyone done anything like this?

Shouldn't be too bad. You could move the AC controls to an Expy overhead console.

Otherwise, unless you start cutting the trim panel, the largest LCD you'll fit in there will be a 7" Widescreen, which will actually fit perfectly.

Good luck!

You could still put the headunit where the AC controls are now.

The touchscreen is a great idea, if you decide to go with a PC.

I left my ac controls where they are and made a custom console on the floor then I mounted a 5.6" lcd where my deck would be and I love it! I dont know how to post pics but if you give me an email address I can send them to you

thanks !

yes, I want to put a mini-itx PC in the truck, for GPS navigation, mp3/dvd/divx/svcd playback

it is either put a pc in with an LCD, which will give me all the playback options I want... or, put in a $2000+ head unit with LCD which will do dvd, mp3, cd but not divx and no navigation without another $$$ addition
