Another Mastercard Moment....

Just to set the record straight, I do not condone street racing... But I could not pass this up.

This morning on my leisurely drive in to work, I passed a bright yellow Lotus Esprit that was waiting to turn on to the same street as me. Traffic was bad, but it caught my attention anyhow.

Well, a little time passes and so does a few miles. I turn on to one of my shortcuts to bypass several bad lights on 183 into Austin. By this time I had totally forgotten about the Lotus and was focusing on the days events at work ahead of me. Next thing I know, a yellow streak blows by me at well over 100mph. Knowing what it was, I stepped up the pace to get a look at the driver. Well, he kept up his blistering pace weaving in and out of traffic. Gunning it from each stop sign and light.

Traffic prevailed again. Stuck behind someone putting on their makeup. Oh well...

Several lights later, look what is in front of me turning on the entrance ramp, but my fair Lotus... I could not resist... The light clicked green and he slid out into the inside lane on a roll, I took the outside lane leaving the center clear and put the hammer down from a roll at the same time.

I guess that he had never thought in his own world, that a truck would try to run him, so I must have caught him off guard. He actually jumped me by almost a car length initially since he was in front of me at the light. Much to his and his passenger's dismay, I had pulled along side him at about 50mph and was still pulling on him when we both shut it down... The look on his passenger's face was for lack of a better description...

Big Gulp from the local store: $1
Custom Plates quoting a line from a movie: $50 a year
Insurance for the last 20 or so tickets: $500 a month
Yellow Lotus Esprit: $88,000+

The look on your friends face as you get walked by a 5000lb truck on your way to school: PRICELESS!!!!

That really made my day. And I don't mean to gloat, but...

PS

Just in case you were wondering, the truck is stock except for a drop in K&N, air box mod and Boost bypass.

Yikes d00d! Are you just a cop magnet or what? I hit 4800/year in NJ, and finally moved to Missouri - paid $1200 my first year there (on a 95 Eclipse turbo)... and this was a few years ago.

I can't imagine a car payment for insurance! For that much, I would rip apart the paint each year and get it repainted a different color!! Hell, each year you pay more than a custom paint job!

..oh, and hitting 25 doesnt mean too much to your insurance...not as much as I was hoping 5 years ago.

Get yourself a Valentine 1, and keep posting the good kills, sans tickets =)

Come on now. Admit it. Everyone knows that you don't run an L when you got a passenger in your car. Too much added weight.

What will really p/o the guy is when you are running with him through twisties.

I second the YIKES. Another reason to save it for the track.

Someone needs to change their screen-name, now!

Good kill, BTW !

Also, we're looking to road-trip to Austin later in the summer.

Keep 'er 'tween the ditches!

Now we're getting a little carried away. I have every suspension mod short of an IRS, and there is no way I'd keep up with a Lotus on a track. Loti as a group may be the single best handling marque ever. Respect where respect is due.

Tim,

You can cure your IRS ills here ... http://www.f150lightning.com/products.htm

I believe Ruslow is running their setup with very positive results ...

Mat got it right.

You guys missed the satire... I was speaking of the lotus. The insurance, plates, passenger...

The guy was an idiot. Gunning it from every stop sign and stop light. Passing me up in a 30mph area at over 100mph. He had to have had a ticket list a mile long. The passenger had to have been of high school age

His plates were "Yea Baby," and obviously came into a large sum of money, but has no sense.

Sorry bout the screen name. Need some Administrator's help in that.
