hey guys i just got a nice $$settlement$$... i got some extra $ i want to spend on the L. i figure around 10K. how much horsepower do you think i can get. im talking "safe" HP. i want to have the truck for like 2-3 more years. i know a 4#pulley, an exhuast system, and electric fan with water pump are going into the mix.

Built motor - 4000-5000
KB - 3000
Monster Box - Around 2000 still?
Invest in traction mods with whatever is left over...

monster box is a built transmission by Factory Tech (Gregg Evans)

if you keep the stock block and internals, I wouldn't do too much boost. A KB or Works is a viable option but again, keep the boost mild with a safe tune and you'll be fine.

If you don't go with a built motor, there's only so much you can do. Can't add too much boost and I wouldn't spray more than a 100 shot...

you can get into the 11s though....

Depends what you all want. It is possible but not probable. Especially if they have to tune the KB and nitrous.

But a KB install and tune is certainly possible within one day as long as you have everything needed and a clear schedule.

Remember to shop around and see if you can get a package deal. Maybe JDM will cut you better prices if you buy a whole bunch of stuff from them at once.

(Not speaking for JDM of course)

Good luck.

You have the strong Rods in your L (2000), buy a K/B and in one hour you will have a SUPER BEAST.

Most of us didn't have the aftermarket S/C's available when we started moding. If I had to do it again, I'd take a 100% stock Lightning, bolt a KB on it, get a predator tuned for it, and be in the 11's instantly.

Of course most say the 01 and 02's have the weakest Rods so it didn't make sense for me to stress my Rods 24/7. Especially when juicing it ocassionally for $500.00 gets me the same results

But the best way to do this safely still remains buying a Built Short Block for $3500.00-$3700.00 (JLP) and put a 8lb - 10 lb lower on it. You'll instantly be running nice impressive consistant 11's all day with a motor that can handle it with no prob.

I happened to feel I already had a new motor and a Super Charger, so I didn't need new ones, hence THE JUICE. But of course if I ever blow it, I will be buying a short block instantly.

Of course this is only my personal opinion

Guess I will be an old fart and suggest you take your coin and buy some real estate.

Interest rates are at a 40 year low and in 3 or 4 years you could have enough equity to get a new Lightning free and clear.

But by then I will bet you would be wiser.

I know I will get flamed for this but just had to put my 2 cents in.

No flaming from me. Totally agree 99%. The other 1% says that life can be very short (from my experiance) and so sometimes you should live a little for now. It is important to take care of your loved ones, so take that phat settlement and get some life insurance and pay off some bills. BTW I do not sell insurance or credit cards;
