Question about chip/pulley
I know this is a dumb question but just wanna make sure... Im using a superchip tuned by JDM..I called Jim and asked him if my program was ok for a 4lb pulley..He checked the serial number and looked it up and told me it would be fine and I wouldn't have to send it in for a reburn.. Well I recently got a 4lb pulley from Sal at PSP.. Are the programs on the chips tuned specifically for certain pulleys? Or is a 4lb/6lb/etc. pulley from one vendor just the same as from another?? Should I get air/fuel readings when I do my dyno just to be safe?? Between what areas in my air/fuel readings should I be looking for?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
well
it's always better to be safe than sorry, get the diameter of the pulley from sal and tell PSP and make sure it is the same.
other than that, take it in and have the A/F ration dyno tested. (across the RPM band)

I believe all the 4#ers are close in diameter to the point where any differences are negligible. Thus a chip burned for one vendor's 4# will work with another's.
As for the AF, you should be looking at it across the band. I've seen cases of tip-in detonation at 1600-1900 rpms and I've seen rod-shooting cases.
Of course, detonation is most dangerous at WOT. For a street program, I'd say you want to be around 11.5-11.7 at WOT (5400 or whatever your shift point is at around)...
