Bed questions
I have decided to go with a soft cover for the back... still trying to figure out what brand. The truck will also be used to hual misc stuff from time to time... IE bark chips and mulch. I was woundering if it is best to get a bed liner to save on the bed getting beat up, but at the same time it will be covered most of the time with the soft cover... any input would be great... thanks Doug
I work for an Architecture/Contractor firm, and most of my co-workers that have trucks have gone with Rhino Liner.. and it looks real good and they really like it. Should beable to with stand anything you'll prob. throw at it. -Also moisture doesn't get under it (possible rust issues?) like the hard plastic ones.. If I'm able to get a lightning soon (Please GOD, Budda, Ali, any other diety listening make it so) I'll prob. get the Rhino and a retrax retractable hard top. Just my 2 cents.. My father has a plastic on on his F-150 no Tonneau and on Mom's KingRanch just has the fiberglass hard Tonneau no bed liner.
Definitely stay away from the drop in liner. Vibration coupled with dirt/moisture will grind the paint away and rust out the bed eventually.
I had a Linex liner install - very similar to the Rhinoliner. But after reading up about Rhino on these message boards - went with Linex. Heard some bad things about 'overspray' from some of the guys who went with Rhinoliner. Also, heard that nothing slides at all in the bed wiht a Rhino, so loading/unloading can be a pain. My Linex seems to do a good job of letting gear slide in/out without crap rolling around when I don't want it to.
I've had my Linex for 4mos and love it. It held up great after moving a couple people and looks sweet. The guys did a great job and didn't cover any of the bed hardware or tie downs. Wish I had a camera to take some photos.
100% recommend Linex.
