I will say there's a guy at my track every single weekend running a Blue Z-06 100% stock other than this great looking cool air induction system in Carbon Fiber. The 1st time he raced it, he was only getting in the 13's due to traction problems.
After 1 yr of practice, he's got it down to 12.7 - 12.9 (street tires)
Also my friend Joe has the regular 02 Vette and he can't even get a 14 out of it due to lack of traction

i am new to here,but i do have a 98 transam ls1.the z06 vettes have the ls6.i have never lost to a lightning.stock for stock.they hang about a fender of me.the zo6 is way faster the a stock lightning.this i have seen with my own eyes.i am not putting down the lightning at all. ps i have raced 8 of then lost 1 time to a mod truck.headers,exhaust,flip chip,pully,and gears.it ran 12.70s.got him on the 150 shot.a frend of my had it.i ran 13.34 at 106 mph in car ws6 ramair stock.and i have seen a 2002 z06 go 11.80s with slicks stock as a rock best time every and one time only.12.0s and 12.2 all day.

Don't take a Z-06 from a running start, it could get ugly!!! The MPH that car makes in the 1/4 shows the potential of the car. You better have an 11.90 truck running 115 or so to hang with a Z-06 from the run.

 

I agree 100%
They are clearly faster, quicker, more Aero Dynamic, and have better top end. Just like the 03 S/C Cobra, it takes a little practice to launch them, But on Slicks I can see them going 11.'s with no problem.

But now I want a Lightning too. It never ends. The need for speed.

its compairing apples to oranges. sure the Z06 is faster. you'd have to be an ***hole not to see that. but then again it is $18,000 more then the lightning. if you put $18k into a lightning im sure you could "hang" with the Z06.

 

Its not really $18k more. Thats only true if you pay sticker for the Z06 like an idiot. My friend got his for $47k because he is friendly with the salesman that sold it to him. Still alot more money, true, but you are comparing a REAL sports car, Corvette Z06, to a Ford pick up truck. Mike

 

Is it just me or can we never have comparisons between different vehicles without stating the vehice either costs more or has a bigger engine, or is super charged. If one car is fast than the other then that's the way it is from the factory. No sense saying well, it's only faster because it's supercharged. Don't think I am explaingin my point well at all, but it just frustrating that any time there is a thread about what is faster straight from the showroom, we always have to have an excuse like it costs more or it's supercharged. It shouldn't matter!!!! Anyway I can't explain what I want to say I guess its still to early for me.

1) It's more expensive! Put the same amount of money (the difference in this case) and the L will whoop its a$$!

2) Can it haul lumber?

3) Can it tow my boat?

4) It's cooler beating someone in a TRUCK!

5) Yea? X-person's truck runs 10's! (insert 10-second truck owner...Sal, JL, Jim, Charlie, etc.)

Now for the rebuttals:

1) So? Some dude in a foxbody Mustang is saying the same thing about our L's.

2) You're comparing apples to oranges.

3) You're comparing apples to oranges.

4) No way! Z06's are better vehicles period. They handle better, brake better, are better track vehicles, and have higher top speeds!

5) Don't bench race someone else's truck son.

 

guys i just pumped a brand new 50th anniversery vette!!! no problems by a car and a half. But racing a Z06 is a diffrent story its totally a diffrent car all together!! they move!!

 

Awsome cars thats for sure.. Truely america's sports car.. But for me I'm a truck person ... It's really kool if you think about it to be comparing a truck with a ZO6#$% huh.. Lightnings are kool and very quick ..
