Lack of Knowledge? Or Sleeper?

I was @ a stop light when a Pontiac Grand Am or something with the same body type pulled next to me, the passenger asked if i wanted to go, i said yes. So i'm sitting there thinking what the hell is this guy thinking? I look over and the passenger is smirking, and i immediately realize it's a sleeper, light turns green we gun it. The cars front bumper was a little bit behind me, I was pulling away, then we came up on traffic. I talk to the guy @ the next stoplight and ask him to rev up, i hear the supercharger. I ask him what kind it was and he said it was stock. I was going to ask him more about his car but the light turned green and we went our serperate ways. Anyone know what kind of Pontiac this is? It tickles my fancy for some reason.
thx
Adam

Probably one of these:

The GTPs come with an Eaton s/c.

Pontiac GTP, factory supercharged, M90 blower. Easily in the 13's with a chip, pulley, etc... just like a lightning.

Stock for stock, an L will destroy it. Yet, with a chip and pulley combo, a GTP will give a stock L for its money.

at the local track i ran one 3 times and he beat me 2 out of the 3, now granted i was all stock w/ 20' chrome reps, and 2 people, and still had tailgate, spare and everything on.

he was consistant 14.3's i ran 14.4, and then his best was 14.1 and i was 14.2, and then finally i got a good 60ft, and ran a 13.9, and he was 14.3.

so they are consistant, and decently fast, my 60ft all day was 2.2/2.3 and on my 13.9 run i had a 2.1.

he took out everything for weight though, he was kinda dumb, he had a big pile of crap in the pits, like a 5x5 ft pile. the spare tire was the only significant weight, everything else was his trunk molding, and interior panels and stuff.

Those are neat cars. My dad was looking to buy one for a while, and I was encouraging him to get it since it came stock with an Eaton, but he ended up not getting it!

Cool

HI!... I run those GTP's all the time. I havn't lost to one yet. All the one's I've seen at the track around here only run around 15.1-15.4 e.t's. There is one kid in town with a dark sand coloured one. He's got a pulley, chip, air filter kit, and exhaust on it and always whants to run me. We race on occasion and I always beat him. He told me his best time at the track was 14.1E.T. The last time we raced on the street. I yanked him about 3 truck lengths up to about 45MPH. It stay that way up to about 80MPH and then by 100MPH he was only 1.5 truck lengths back. He was absolutly stunned that a pick-up truck beat him. When I talked to him at the next light he said "THOSE LIGHTNING'S ARE PRETTY FAST" I replied "YES THEY ARE BUT THIS IS NOT A LIGHTNING". His jaw dropped and then I told him it was just a N/A 5.4. I left out the massively modded part though

We got a pair of them that run at one of my local tracks and they are doing high 12's at 1100 feet. Very respectable.

On my very first run at the track (bone stock), I almost got beat by a bone stock looking Grand Am!

I took him off the line by about 2 car lengths. Then about half track he was gaining on me! I beat him but not by much.

Best I've ever scene one run was 13.6, really nice guy owned it also.

Problem with them is they have a roots blower and no intercooler, so you are very limited in boost.
