DENSO IT22's

Just got my Denso and will be installing them this weekend, WHAT should i gap them at ? I have a # 5 lower and gapped my NGK's at .40 with no problems, should i gap the Denso's the same or less. I was thinking .38 for the Denso. What are some of you other Denso guys gapping them at ?

The first thing is that their easy to break gapping them. I broke two before I learned. I 'm gapping mine at .040. I don't know that .002 makes that much of a differance. I have read where its colder .038 and where its hotter like Texas .040. Theres so many searches in that area. But I can tell you that you will love them if you stay away from detonation. Have fun on the changing!

Sal told me 0.038" on my IT24s with my 5 lber. Should be the same for IT22s because the gap is set due to the higher boost level(your 5 lber), not the heat-range of the plug.

GOOD RULE OF THUMB:
Close gap .001 per 1 lb increase of boost off m\factory recommendation.

5 lb lower = -.005

You can't go wrong here.

Me and two other people on here who have #4 lower #1 upper combos have them gapped at .041 with no issues. And like posted earlier, be careful gapping them! It's easy to nuke the electrode.

Oh yeah, before you start, open all of the boxes and make sure the metal screw on tip is included with all of them. We got to #7 when we installed mine and low and behold..NO TIP!! Thankfully, mrinaldi had one laying around from an old set.

Good luck.
