Finally got a Lightning

On Tuesday, I finally went to the dealer to buy my L. I was so happy. I've wanted one since the Gen I's. I got a 2000 red one, and it just turned 21,000 miles yesterday. It's in great shape, except the inside smells like smoke. I'm doing what I can to get rid of that (any suggestions?).

It has a bedliner, but I'd like a Bed Rug. How much are those? I hate bedliners. The previous owner had a Superchip in it. The dealer took it out when they got the truck on trade-in, but they are mailing the chip to me. If it has the stock pulley, will the chip do any good? How much is a 4# pulley? With the combination of the chip and pulley, what kind of power can I expect.

I love the truck, and I've been hanging out here since I decided to buy one. I'm graduating from college this weekend, so I can finally afford one. I'm open to any tips about care or things to check out. The way I understand it is that the 2000's were not as likely to launch a plug. Is this accurate? I've listened for "the clunk," and I don't hear anything.

Thanks in advance for your help, and I'm glad to finally be part of the community.

Congrats on the purchase!

As far as the smoke smell - it's a BEAR to get rid of (yuk)... You could probably take out the mats, take them to a power wash, and clean 'em really good. If you really feel ambitious, you can take out the seats, get some Blue Coral cleaner and clean them really good, and let em dry in the sun. Then take out the carpeting (pretty easy feat), and clean that with a power wash as well... That should make it smell nice and perrrdy. You'll prbably find the headliner is all smoked up, and you may wanna scrub that down as well.

Good luck with the new toy!!

Glad you got it!!!

Same as MaxPower...you might also want to try the new Lysol
AIR spray (not the regular stuff for contact only).

DEIMATT:
Is that a picture of you ???...you must be using those "crest"
teeth whitening strips since your teeth look rather clean.

Thanks. Maybe I'll have some time for that after my last final of my life tomorrow.

dtlaine,

Congrats on the L !

As for a BedRug, talk to Tim (aka Chikenears) at http://www.chikenearsengineering.com

While you're at it, get one of his 12" Power Stack Air Filters. It really wakes up the blower!

That is the 2nd coolest sound on Earth (if you know what I mean!)

All I can say is a lot of

FEBREEZE.... all over the damn place... there are some places that will clean the a/c vents and air passages ( w/t heck are those things called?) anyway they spray some stuff in them to help get them cleaned out...

did I say use some FEBREEZE?

oh yeah, and use some FEBREEZE...

Good Luck

Dana
