truck still having problems, help?

I've had my truck in the shop for numerous things since I've bought it. It has been mostly rebuilt at this point. Well before that last time it was in the shop, it started to lose power at high rpms/speed and would almost act like it was running on 7 cylinders or something. I ran real rough. When I slowed down, it was continue to run real rough for about 30 seconds or so, then correct itself and would run fine until I got on it hard in the upper RPM range or at speeds around 50 or faster.

I ended up blowing the motor and getting it rebuilt which I thought would fix the problem. It started doing it again. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? The SES light isn't coming on.

I'm really frustrated and just want my truck to run like it should. Oh, the truck is not modded. Its 100% stock.

How long ago did you change your fuel filter...Did you keep the truck maintainanced? It may have been your PCU..Mines was doing that at one point..I kept resetting the computer and it work itself out...Do you have a chip?

the fuel filter has less than 10,000 miles on it. I've had a chip on it in the past, and it used to do it with it as well. I removed the chip and everything else because I had to get alot of motor work done. And now the truck is stock and still doing it.

I was thinking maybe it is a bad coil pack? I have yet to have any replaced ....

From what I understand, 10,000 miles is way overdue on the fuel filter.

Here are some possible causes for losing power:

1. Incorrect ignition timing(PCM?)
2. Faulty or incorrectly gapped(worn?) plugs
3. Dirty air filter
4. Faulty ign. coils
5. Auto trans fluid level incorrect, causing slippage(not likely?)
6. Fuel filter clogged or impurities in the fuel system(10k may be too many miles?)
7. EGR system not functioning properly
8. Low or uneven cyl. compression pressure
9. Vacuum leak at the intake manifold or vacuum hoses
10. Dirty or clogged fuel injectors
11. Fuel inj. or eng. control systems malfunction
12. Resticted exhaust system

These are in the order of likelihood as stated by my Haynes manual.

Sounds like it is starving for fuel. Start with a pressure test on the fuel system. I bet you are losing pressure in the upper RPM range. Could be filter or pump related.
