Hey here's an idea.....

Get a metco interchangable pulley setup with a 2lb and 4lb and a superchip's flip chip.

One side can be for a 2lb and towing.....

Other side for a 4lb and a nasty little street program.

That's sounds like that will work better for your needs...?

I got one

and think I did see some results.. look at my sig, see the mods I have and then go to the link with my dyno run and see the numbers... I think I got about 10 ponies out of it... and no they werent Shetland ponies...

Truckin magazine had a large section of one of their issues last year set aside for work on a '99 Lightning. They tested alot of stuff out. Accufab showed a 18hp dyno printout improvement...
IMHO it's worth it if you have other mods, like pulleys, headers, exhaust, large cone filter intake kit, etc. I like mine... they are way overpriced though... look on ebay periodically you can find them for 300 bucks or so.

Unlike most guys the throttle body was one of the first mods I made, after I installed and test drove I must admit I was a bit disappointed, what you will notice is quicker throttle response and a bit more intake noise. I look at it like this, it was one piece in the puzzle to get me to my goal, so was it worth it, yes. side note-after I had most of my other mods done I think the throttle body was more of a benifit. Good luck, Todd

Let's put all this info together:

Some claim "increased throttle response," while and equal number of other owners noticed nothing.

Holdener's test last year found about 17-20 ponies by changing the throttle body AND filter, but that was at 500 HP airflow levels. On a stock engine, where the stock filter and throttle body do not cause a significant bottleneck, little to no gains are found, which has been repeatly confirmed by dyno tests.

Bottom line: any gains on a stock engine are due to the placebo effect. I challenge anyone to "feel" 5 HP on a 350 HP engine. Those kinds of gains can only be measured on a dyno or seen in marginally higher trap speeds.

Even at the bargain price of $300, better values can be found. That's 10% of the way to a Kenne Bell or Works blower.

Why not, towing with a 4 lber and Long tubes is no problem. But I would hold off on a "radical" tune, just go for a street tune

A single blade throttle body helps more in higher airflow situations such as a Kenne Bell etc. If I remember right at about 13 lbs boost with a K/B, it made 8-10 more rwhp. Not a lot, but every little bit adds up. Skip

A tbody is a worthless mod on a Lightning because boost is fed into the engine AFTER the throttle body.

A single blade will increase tip in throttle response as skip pointed out once you start running more efficient superchargers. Is it worth $450 -$500? Hell no. Most people who are getting this 8-10 hp are gaining it because they are either port matching to th plenum or porting the plenum. That is where the gain is coming from

2 Weeks ago we watched a tbody install on a lightning for a ragazine article. The kicker was, they lost 8hp when the bolted up the accufab.

FYI

That was not an Accufab Throttle Body, here is the page of the artical with a picture of the TB.... it is NOT an Accufab TB.
CLICK

And just to stay "on topic"

A TB should be in your plains for increased HP and TQ.

Although maybe not the first piece in the puzzle.

Also some people don't like the cost but alot of people bought the ugly cast FRPP TB just for performance and paid about 450.

What is on the market today are pieces that perform better then the FRPP AND they are made from Billet AND you get some very nice eye candy also, for the same price.

The TB's of today are not just a performance mod but a PERFORMANCE and BLING mod all wraped up in one item.

Hope This Helps
Doug

Right... This mod ranks right up there with Boosting ones Plasma in the Lightning

I still havent found my Plasma Resevoir. Maybe GiGi can help me find it along with my missing relays?
