The tailgate is quite light and honestly, i never saw a gain with it removed.

The reason a lot of guys remove there tailgate is that it is so easy to do at the track. No tools required.
It probaly only weighs 40 lbs at most.

well i was hitting 13.9's all day w/ everything stock and 20's on.

i then took off the spare tire, and switched to stock 18's on the back, and i was consistant 13.7's sometimes hitting 13.6's and one time i hit 13.59 (which is my best)

so i figure if you take off the tailgate, hitch, spare, you should at least get a tenth and maybe two!

I agree. Gains if any would be minimal and the risk of scratching it while removing it or storing it would far out weigh taking it off in my opinion. Like somebody said, it's easy to do though.

Last time I went to the track I removed the hitch, tailgate and nitrous bottles +-150lbs. I couldn't get any traction so I put back the hitch and nitrous bottles +-120lbs and I improved my times.

I can't imagine why putting the nitrous bottles back in would improve your times...

My best et was run with the t/g 'up-and-on'. The hitch and spare have been off since I bought it.

Some may remove the tailgate to remove the higher pressure area in front of the raised tailgate when the box has no tonneau....and for weight reduction.....as well.

Each 100 pounds usually equals about a tenth. Not a perfect rule, but usually it works out to be pretty close. Skip
