New To Board / 1999

Just introducing myself. I bought my Lightning used from a car dealership. Was sitting in the back all dirty. Was there for like 8 months and when my brother told me he seen it there and knew I always wanted one, I was gone! So here I am. I've had it for about 6 months. It is a 1999 Red SVT Lightning. Beautiful truck and is everything that I thought it would be and more!

Just had a few questions. First of all, anyone around here from the Chicagoland area? Any meetups ever happen? And about performance...

I want to get a deeper and better muffler system. Was checking out Borla's stainless steel found in Summit Racing Magazine (and probably elseware). Any suggestions on cheap but good?

I want to buy a chip. I seen some chips and now i can't find them, that advertised on the lightning, stock, would increase by 110+ h/p and 75+ torque. I don't know how true. But I was just searching today and seen a few that where roughly 300$ and increased from 12-45+ h/p depending on what has been done to the lightning. Mine is tock, so i'm looking at a 12 h/p roughly increase. Any suggestions on what to go with? This is an everday driver so what will my gas milage look like if I get a chip? Better? Worse? Lot worse?

Do a lot of you switch the pully on the charger right away? Is that something that will again, worse fuel milage (i'm sure yes,) but how bad?

Any other smaller mods I can do to have it quicker but not fully going all out to effect my everyday driving?

Anyone going down to ST Louis this weekend? I am leaving Friday morning from Chicago to meet up down there. Was hoping to get my decal on the front of the truck and you could all find me easily, but its still being done. Will be a 4 peice decal. Brother's friend works for a decal company so getting it very cheap. Will be hooked up to the bumper as one peice which will be the start of the lighting. Then a peice on the hood that branches off onto the side (2 more peices) and fade off into the red paint of the truck. I'll have to take snap shots when I am done.

Make sure your truck had the intercooler recall done. That's the first thing you want to check... if not, all your mod money is going toward fixing that.
A chip can be had from the major vendors on here JLP, REM, PSP... just do a search. Plus, you will find some fun wars between people about who's is better. The chip will net you maybe 30 HP if you are lucky.
Exhaust - Bassani is best (big $$$), Silver Bullet is OK if you live in an environment where corrosion/rust is not an issue (less $$), and there is MAC - best bang for your buck. I highly recommend it. Borla is a waste of time.
Pulley - make sure you go CAGELESS. 4# lower is great for street driving.

And most important boost bypass + Factory Tech Vale Body.
