Overhead Counsel for a Lightning

I have a '99 Lighting and would like to get an overhead counsel. I went to the dealership and saw the new ones have overhead counsels.
What else are those counsels in?
Can I get one that has a outside thermometer in them?

If I go to the bone yard, what vehicles would I be looking for to take one out of and put into my L?

Also how are those things mounted? What do they screw into?

Thanks guys.

I also have a 99 Lightning, and I just installed the overhead console a few weeks back. Our trucks don't have the wiring for the compass etc. I followed the jumper (compass to the connector by the computer) to the area around the computer by the lower passenger kick panel, and the connector is there but the wires we need are not. So basically we can just install for the looks and extra space especially for the shades . Unless there is another way I don't know about, but that's all I can do. Hope this helps.

Dont worry about the compass

Install a DVD screen in its place.. someone on this board has one there and it is great!!!

hmm should spelled console.

anyways, what other vehicles can I steal it from that will fit inthe Lightning.
having the compass work would be OK, I just want more storage space. (radio remote control, sunglasses, garage door opener etc..) little things.

Cool

HI!... YES it can be done. 2 weeks ago I installed a 2002 headliner with overhead console in my "99" F-150. I got mine from the junkyard for $450(CAN). It included :

- HEADLINER
- DOME LIGHT
- SUN VISERS
- OVER HEAD CONSOLE
- WIRE HARNESS FOR LCD DISPLAY
- TEMP SENSOR PROBE

Because I got a 02 headliner I had to trim a bit of foam and drill a few screw holes for the sun visers. Because the 02 headline is slightly different I also had to get the upper corner rear interior panels to match the contours of the headline. JMC gave me a hand doing the wiring via his FORD F-150 manual on CD. It was quite easy. Go to this thread I started. It will tell you exactly what you need to do and what colour coded wires do what and where they hook up to.

everyone needs a little "counseling" once in a while...even if it is the overhead variety!
