Turning air bag off

I have tried to turn the passanger airbag off before and it doesn't seem to turn. Is there a trick to it? I only have one key, but I don't think I need 2. It just doesn't click when it gets to the OFF position, it comes back to ON. I don't want to really push it hard cause I don't want to break it.

If your's is anything like mine, then its crap!!! I had my panel off when installing my head unit. Everything was fine up until then. Now the light won't come on saying that the bag is off? and the airbag light on the dash blinks for a while until it decides to stay on full time. Switch turns on and off fine, nothing is cracked, all wires are connected, and all prongs are still there in good condition. What year is your L? Wondering if there is someting in common here as me 98 F-150 switch had problems as well.

While holding the key in the off position simply remove the key and it will stay in the off position and the airbag will be disabled.

Secstang, sounds like your switch is disconnected, or not connected properly...

It's a trick, you gotta do what sfdbulldog said. Turn the key to off and pull it out, don't let it turn back before you pull it out.

Spank, the thing is that my key doesn't even get to the off position.

Do you have a book? The instructions are in there. It's not really as difficult as it may seem. Just turn it as far as it will turn, (which MAY NOT point to 'OFF'), and pull out the key - WHILE you're holding it turned. It will stay there.

No I don't have a book.

Thanks guys I got it working. I gave it a little more torque and it moved a little more. I just took the key out and worked. I guess I was also expecting it to move 90* and the hear some kind of click or something.

I understand, it seems pretty awkward, until you've done it before.
