That's a great article. I agree 99% with thier writeup of the Harbor Frieght jack. It's great for the track, but should not be used as a main garage jack. I too broke the ears off the pad, and had my truck fall off the jack. The only thing in that article I disagree with, is I find that it's VERY easy to lower a vehicle slowly with this jack, WAY easier than my POS Craftsman.

Mines that way too, but it's a COMPANION.... Sears made
but not warranteed liek the craftsman. The Craftsman like
Brandon has is Soooooooo slow going up after the first
long stroke ...
As I gets older, I seriously condider NASCAR like air jacks....
Wouldn't that ROCK ... Drive into pits, hit a button, change tires
I have a 2 1/2 ton Lincoln. It is a very heavy duty (and heavy) piece. It is easy to modulate when lowering the vehicle, so you don't have to turn the handle and run.
The only down sides are it's heavy and pricy. I take it to the trck anyway.

Great article, thanks for posting. I was ready to get one of those Harbor Freight jobbies, but read too many storys of breakage both here and solo2.com. Like MISTERgadget I want one of those AC DK-20s.

Another friend bought the Harbour Freight Aluminum jack and he said he has used it several times on his L, said it works fine.
I'm leaning towards trying one ( Harbour Freight), you can't beat the lighweight. Any better alternatives to buy with same lighweight and about same price?
I checked the DK-20 out and considered it for the track, but It is 70 lbs verse 38 lbs for the HF. I need a jack for the track mostly.
