Too much boost.

Ok i got a weird question. I have 2000 L, the only mods i have are Intake and Chip, or so i think, the chip is not in at the moment, yet the boost gauge is going past 8 psi, i dont think i have an aftermarket pully, but i dont know for sure, what im thinking is when ford took apart my motor to replace a head, they might have accidently forgot to connect the boost bypass valve, does anyone have any ideas why im geting up to 12 pounds of boost? if u think its the bypass, should i leave it like that, or is it bad, and if its bad how do i fix it. Thanks in advance.

trust me, the stock gauge is off as much as 25% if you do have an after market pulley it may look like a billet pulley

I'm assuming you have an open-air intake.......that could/might add 1-2 lbs of boost......and then the stock gauge wouldn't be that far off at 12 lbs???

My stock 2001 will shoot the stock boost gauge in to orbit, way always past the 10# mark when accelerating hard.

Most will get @ 9lbs stock,
A good Filter will add up to 2 lbs,
so it sounds about right to me.

I'm running 6lbs of extra pulley right now, mine goes all the way around into the Tach Area @ 5000 Rpm
