Looking to buy.....

I am seriously looking at buying a lightning 00-02, possilbley a 03 model. I currently have a 2001 Mustang bullitt and I love it, but I need a truck, and thought this would be the best of both worlds, truck and hot rod... I have pulled up the specs and I see that there was a hp/tq boost in 2001 along with 373's. Is there any other technical diff between the 00-03???? Are there any mechanic issues that I should look into???? What is the price diff between the 00-02 ??? Any advise on shopping for a lightning would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Doug

buy a new one. full warrenty and all the updates. i have seen them for sale for under 30k out here. i bought a 99 last october and i love it but i have no warrenty and the intercooler failed and had to get it replaced. the 99 and 00 need the intercooler recall to be done or dont buy it. the 01-02 have 90mm mass air , aluiminum drive shaft and lower gears but i have heard some problems with rods and bottom ends. the 03 have updated heads with more threads for spark plugs and you get a 0 mile truck that you can rod the **** out of it yourself. unless you can steal a used one go new. just my 2cents

See if you can get an x plan and find a dealer that will take it. You L will come in right under 30k, 29,6XX I think it was.

I am located in washington.. but I have to sell my bullitt if I go private party.. unless you are interested in a trade of sorts...

MHMCGILL where did you land yours at???? I have found some good deals at boone scarf.... I think they just opened up the 0 percent on the lightnings as well.... So with the money I would be saving on interest.. it appears it would be a dumb move not to buy new,,,,,, ,Doug

Test drove a sonic blue 03 today with 10 miles on it. God I loved the sound and feel of that boost.. I really could not run in through the gears for I did not have the dealer with me, and I did not want to abuse him letting me take it with no BS. I will test drive longer once I get this figured out some more. I dont know if I will come out ok on my trade in to make it happen or not. But that is one hot ride...... then I see 04 will have 500 hp.... so now I am thinking of waiting.. hard to do after the test drive... you guys have one hot ride.... Doug

PS he said He may do an X plan... but I need to find a qualifting friend... Doug

Hey learo2000gt, You might also try
evergreenford or kirklandford. I live on the kitsap penn. looked around here but the one dealer that is a svt dealership wouldnt even come down alittle bit. I got mine for just over 30,600. And that is with a little ****ering. I got mine from Kirkland ford. good luck on what ever you decide.

peace

Well the cheapest I can find is 30,700. However they would take the X plan.. but I dont know anyone that works at ford or is retired from ford. IT would get me down to 29 700 I think.... SO a grand.....

I need to get my bullitt in to see what they will give me for it.... so only time will tell... probally head out there tommorw or wed....

Doug
