JL intake testing if interested.

I've been working on measuring intake temps on my JL ram air setup and basically, it works as advertised. It cools the intake temp faster and keeps it cooler than a cone filter/box by itself. The data are here if interested. Good Job, Johnny. I suspect that Sals works similarly well. My suggestion to everyone based on the testing would be if you are going open air filter that you get a JL ram air setup or something similar.

It is important to get cool air into the supercharger I think it is more important to have cool air entering the cylinder. It is easy to log the secondary air intake temp also. When you set up your gauges on autotap next time select all parameters and croll down to where you'll see something like secondary air temp(there are two listed, I think it is the second one you want.) That is important.

A 20 degree change in the air entering the filter may result in only a 5 degree or less change in the air entering the cylinder.

What version of autotap software are you using? Send me some of your .atl files if you want and I'll look at them. I can send some of mine also.

I am using 2.04... I had problems with 2.03 maintaining a connection and thought it was the autotap itself...

I'll look for that parameter as I can repeat the test again if necessary. I was considering taking the test a little further and measuring the miles/stops on the drive and timing carefully as well...

Ken800, Send me some of your atl and atc files. I would like to see how they compare to mine. I also have some if you would like to see some of mine.

Thanks.

I read part of this post of yours, "My secondary air charge temp which is the temp after the intercooler before the charge is fed to the cylinder for combustion won't go any lower than 130 degrees once the truck is up to temp. I saw easterisland on his L got as low as 90s on his... He as the JDM unit AND his stock unit in series... "

You have to remember that I think that was with 65° temps. It seems that with 15psi of boost(6lb lower and 3.5" upper on my KB blower) that the difference between the primary intake air temp and the second air intake temp is about 30°. That is cruising down the interstate at around 70-80 mph. When I punch the gas it goes down just a bit due to more air being forced through the heat exchanger and it cooling better, but temps will rise gradually.
