20,000 - 24,000 $ to spend.

On a new vehicle, this december. im looking at used lightnings, camaros, vettes, etc. the problem is insurance. me being only 21 years old (this june) and living in california are two things that really bust my *** when it comes to insurance, even though my driving record is spic&span clean.

so the fact that sports car insurance is super high, and the lightning insurance is pretty darn good from what i hear, i'm about 98% sold on a getting a used lightning sometime in december. (that and the fact i fkn love these trucks )

so the lightning is really great for me, the things i like about it are its high(er) ride height than a normal sports car, (good for navigating southern california traffic jams,) its got the straight line / street preformance that id love. and then all the other obvious facts like badass looks, easy modibility, etc. etc.

But i just have one last question and that'd be can you guys think of any other cars around the lightnings preformance, and with cheap insurance like a lightning, for the same used price?

thanks alot guys

Cool

For far less than that you could get an 86/87 Buick GrandNational. It'll run as slow as a Lightning if its BONE stock . Of course I wouldn't suggest this car to anyone who doesn't REALLY want one. The warrantees are out on them unless you find one with the 17year transferable type. And actually a BONE stock one would net you a 1/4 time of 13.80 at best BUT you can run deep into the 12's for about $100.

Get the Lightning, it sounds like thats what you want.

Whatever you plan to buy, make sure you get an insurance quote. Some companies recognize the Lightning for what it is, others treat it as an F-150.

watch out... that could come back to haunt you in the future... I have seen that happen many times on this board. insurance companies will figure it out sooner or later.... hopefully later as I have been lucky enough for them to not recognoize my Cobra or Lightning.

That happened to me, from 99 to 01, my insurance just rated my truck as a F150, V-8, auto...then BAM.....$600 increase for a performance vehicle! Thats what motivated me to mod the crap out of it, if they are charging me for 380 hp, then I'll have a little more hp they don't know about

Word of caution. If they have your vehicles listed as a stock Mustang and F150, you might only get reimbursed for that amount if you have a wreck. What you don't pay up front, you might in the end. It's always best to make sure the insurance company understands what your vehicle is so that there a no surprises when it comes to filing a claim. Insurance companies usually win in the end.

You could have a clean used 2001 for that. many of these trucks are priced way too high.
i sold my 99 with 41,000 miles for $18,250... and it was the cleanest around - not one imperfection. This was the price that it was worth - nothing more...
