Will a bad TPS cause shifting problems?

Just trying to figure out why my tranny went from short, firm shifts to early sloppy shifts after installing ported heads and a Billetflow T/B that came with a new TPS. Does a TPS have anything to do with the way these transmissions shift?

Well, problem is solved! I pulled the new Blilletflow off and installed the old T/B and things are back to normal. WTF? So Im thinking its the TPS, So I reinstalled the Billetflow with my old TPS and it still shifted like a dog.
So, guess the new T/B will be going back for a refund. Ive never heard of anyone having a s/b t/b giving them tranny troubles, oh well, thats my luck. Anyone know why the Billetflow made the tranny shift so soon and sluggish?

I miss the hissing noise already and the throttle response isnt as crisp, but oh well............

Calightnin- TPS on the new Billetflow was set at the factory and I adjusted it every which way with no success. I cant figure this one out at all! Weird. It doesnt matter on the stock T/B were its set, the tranny shifts fine either way.

I'm sorry but BilletFlow does NOT "factory install" TPS'

You Must set the TPS voltage.

After you set the TPS you Must reset your computer.

Maybe you should call the "factory" and see if they can help.

Hope this helps

Doug

Shank,

I couldn't get the proper adjustment on mine either.
I had to drill the TPS to get the right reading.

I couldn't adjust mine either, so I took the TPS off.

I drilled the holes out to give me more adjustment, it's only plastic that was a piece of cake.

Picture explains it all. "NOW IT'S CORRECT" .980

Rob and Tim Skelton should team up on one site for info and how-to's.Ford would probably send the link to their dealers service departments.

But I think, Ford would get pissed with Rob yelling.........Give Me Head w/Thread
BTW....my TPS needed to be "drilled" to set the voltage properly

Ahhh, Rob you da man!! Thanks for the info. Ill try that because this TPS has nearly zero movement!!

dougwg- The "factory" I was referring to was LFP where I bought it, he sets the TPS for you, guess I should have made myself a little more clear. They dont come with a TPS from the manufactuer.

No Prob Shank,
Anything to help a Brother out.
I bought mine from Mark Too, (great price)
Your right he also told me the TPS was installed "and adjusted"
To tell you the truth I ran mine for quite some time before adjusting it, and it ran perfect.

I really didn't feel a difference after I adjusted it either.
Mine was @ .50 before I adjusted it. But since it's an electronic ran switch, that plugs into YOUR LIGHTNING, I guess you got to expect it to need adjustment anyway, MINE DID.

Now if I can only get rid of the ****ing annoying
whistling sound

Rob,

Yo can get rid o the annoying whistle if you line up the throttle body with the upper plenum. If the TB's opening is still too big, you can pull off the plenum and match it's opening to the TB's, then no more whistle.

Rob- I dunno man, I kinda like that whistle! I think it sounds bad a$$, kinda like a pop off valve on a turbo or something. It sure turns people's heads when leaving a redlight.
