Go for 20's or BooM!

I have saved up about $1000, i would like to get 20's of a system but i can not decide. My parents said they will buy the tires so all i need is about 300 more for the 20's but can go get a system for about 1100 that will beat the block. Gimmme your suggestions!

1100 won't get you very much stereo system-wise if you have just a stock system right now.

I say go for the 20s since your parents are paying for the tires...

well I would start on e the system....keep putting into it as you go. Start with new speakers , an amp, and a new head unit. Then go for the boom.

20's in my opinion don't amaze me. #1 They slow you down and number two you lose quite some traction. But on the other hand they turn some heads.

i dont go to car toys for the system...so yes 1100 will get me ALOT. It will get my 2 12' Audiobahn Flame Compressions with a Rockford Fosgate Bd1000 Amp and a custom box with the amp kit.

Keep in mind what level system you want to build. I personally plan to do an amp rack as I've run out of places to hide stuff so I have to get a box (for behind the seat) when I get my mids, highs, and multichannel amp for them. Thus for my preferred setup, I am going to do it all at once: Box, amp rack, subs, sub amp, mids, highs, 4 channel amp....

All up to you though. You can always do head unit and mids/highs for now and come back later for the rest.

Also, some that get subs don't use the rear factory speaker locations since you can't hear much of it with your subs. I am doing mid bass in the door and kickpanels with components....

Uhmm do them both???

Go with the system first, you got to have beats.

Get your head unit first, get a nice one though ($300 to $400 bucks).
Then buy some speakers for the door only, the rear speakers are useless when you put a system in. ($300 atlast) A nice set of 6.5" inch components will sound good for now.
Then you need some bass, if you have any skill in wood working just make you own box and start off with like two 10's or somthing. that will sound good for now. I love the IDQ's myself, ( $150 bucks each at most online).
Then your going to need an amp for the subs. I just bought a nice concept 2400 which is a complete monster but you don't really need 2600 watts for two 10's HEHEHEHEHE. Concept also makes a nice 1200 which will pump out an easy 1300 to 1400 watts which is more then enough for the subs. ($450 from www.nexxon.com ) Thats where I got mine, good deals!
Then of course your going to need wiring and atleast a 1 farad cap for the amp. figure another $300 for that atleast.

That would be a nice starter system and it would sound good.
Trust me I've had allot of different setups. HEHEHEHE

Concept 2400:

Old system with 3 IDQ's:

Still a work in progress but its insane!

If you're set on the system, save a bit more and go at it all at once. It'll be more fun that way

So far I've spent over 1000 and I still have stock speakers and NO amps...

My future system will be around 2000-2500 at least including Focal components, Memphis amps, and dunno about sub brands....

Get the IDQ's they go in such small enclosures and they hit so hard and tight!

I've had a couple audiobahns and they where good but ended up blowing up or just falling apart on me. not worth it.

Two JBL 1200.1s for the subs which cost 250.00 each
The subs were Kicker 10L7s which were 180.00 each
In the doors were 6.5 inch Crystal components on sale for 110.00
Pushed by a PPI 150watt: 180.00
Wiring: 130.00
Head unit: 280.00
Box materials: 80.00
Sound deadening: 100.00
