Angry First time at track last night - I MISS MY LIGHTNING!!!

It truly sucks to come to the realization that you can't drive worth a *****!!!!! I really miss my Lightning now!!!

My hole shots in this car are downright embarassing, deplorable, and depressing (best of 2.31, worst of 2.45). I can't launch this thing for crap..............I ease of the clutch, I dump the clutch, nothing!!!!! Either I bog to almost a standstill, or I spin the first 100' before I catch. It's horrible!!!! At least my shifting into 2nd and 3rd are fine; not perfect, but good enough.

I managed a best of 14.06 @ 103.87 MPH with the disgusting 2.31 60' time. I know the car easily has a low 13-second time in her, but apparently not with me driving.....................THIS SUXX!!!

Let's see next month what I could do..............as for now, I'm very disappointed.............not in the car, but in me!!!!

But DAMN it sounds good going down the track!!!!

JC

Don't feel bad. I took the Cobra for a pass and forgot to turn the Traction control off (Bogged off the line) , then I missed third gear and coasted to an embarresing 17 second pass. HEHEHE

I gave the Cobra back to Teri and said I will stick with my Lightning. She just laughed.

Don't feel bad JC. I have tried to open the Cobra up twice now. Each time I couldn't get it into 3rd gear I haven't driven stick in over a year and I am still getting used to where the sweet spot is for shifting.

Can't add an attachment, but I'll tell what the guy next to me ran. His is bone stock 03 Mach-1 with 8oo miles on it and has a automatic tranny. (He was 65 years old to boot too!)

RT = 0.653
60 = 2.099
330 = 5.926
1/8 = 9.009
1/8 = 79.92 mph
1/4 = 13.883
1/4 = 101.16mph

Just thought this would make you feel *better*

Later, WOT

The key to launching a mod car is slipping the clutch while launching at high rpms. When you get that down, rally up and get some slicks. Be sure to replace that weak *** clutch with a Mcleod Cintered Iron Clutch and dont look back. You wont miss the launching of the Lightning at that point.. 6500 RPM dumps will = your *** puckering up.

Don't beat yourself up, it's not an automatic, and it's fast, it's gonna take some R+D to get it right. DID YOU HAVE FUN, THATS ALL THAT MATTERS.

A Mustangs w/ manual transmission can burn rubber for an entire 1/4 mile. I got to assume Ford worked some kind of magic with the 03 Stangs + Cobra to get better grip, especially on the S/C Cobra for daily driving ???? My 96 Cobra Conv was absolutley IMPOSSIBLE to drive in the rain, it would just go into a spin on the parkway with the slightest touch of the peddle and did on many many ocassions, I was stranded sooooo many times getting caught in the slightest dusting of snow, you have no idea. Bottom line it sucked for traction, I went through 3 prs of F-1's in 2 yrs, nearly got killed in it a dozen times, and even lost it on a turn one night when it 180'd because I gave it gas going into the turn. And I'm an old man that happens to drive pretty normal on the street. I Never put a scratch on it, but got dam I spent more times sideways and backwards with that thing, than I did going straight My L has a major traction problem, but that thing was outright impossible.

I hear you guys talk about traction control so it sounds like they finally must have dome something to make it drivable in wet weather ??? It surly wasn't before. Sounds like it's time for slicks and bars JC, you'll get those ET's then.

My Buddy still owns it, I see it all the time,
He spun and took damage twice already
