What do you do with the old hood?

At FFW on Sunday I parked next to a Harley that had this hood.

I have never really though about a hood since it does not make you go faster or stop better but I really liked this hood. If I do get it what is the stock hood worth? I was hoping I could trade it to the body shop for the paint job (even if I have to add a little boot money). Is it worth $150.00-$200.00? Would a body shop rather have a hood without paint (from dealer) than one with paint on it already? If it's not worth much what the Hell are you supposed to do with it......lean it against the wall in the garage? Does anyone here have this hood? Any info on the quality?

Thanks for totally wrecking my day.
Do you notice how the two , uh, snorkle thingys are exactly the perfect size, and are set exactly the same distance from the clevage, er I mean, center line of the hood thing.
And I really like the checker board lower piece, uh, grill thing too...

My OEM sits in the garage leaning against the wall. Got way to many rock chips on my aftermarket hood this weekend at FFW from burn-outs in front of me. so might just get use for it again while my aftermarket is getting repainted

I'm getting another stock hood and gonna make my scoop functional.
Gonna install a louvered sheet and drain trays with some help from Flat's Man. Should suck all the hot air out of the engine bay.

If you can get the body shop to cover most if not all paint costs for the trade of your hood, that's a great deal. I've seen people on here try to sell theirs for less than 150 bucks and I've been quoted as much as 400 for the paintjob of a hood....

Only chance you will ever have on selling it is if it is a local sale. Due to the size of hoods they damn near cost $100 to ship. Trust me, I've looked into it.

Jerry,

Keep it. You never know, in a moment of weakness at some point in the future you may decide to sell the truck. Guaranteed that the first words out of the potential buyer's mouth will be, "Do you have all the original parts?" That becomes even more important if you sell it in 10 or 20 year's time.

Just one man's opinion.

Made a deal with a local body shop. Even trade for the paint work. I'm going to order the hood tomorrow. Damn I've got to stop spending money! Is there a support group for Lightning spenders?
