Help....I'm trying to bling out my exhaust tips

Awhile ago a member posted pics of Stock chromed exhaust tips. They looked great so I've taken my to the chrome shop to have them plated. They said that they can't be chromed because they are stainless. They offered to polish them for me. I really wanted to have them chromed but I have to settle. What I would like is if the person that had their tips plated could chime in and give me a little insight into how your tips were able to be plated AND if someone with polished stock tips could post a pic since I may have to go this route. THANKS. As always guys I appreciate the help.

IMO, I would purchase a set of MAC, Bassani, or Magnaflow tips. They are SS and much easier to take care of.

Because polished SS is easier to clean/maintain than ceramic coated tips.

Guys I don't mean to come across as a bitch or anything but ya'll need to read my original post. I took the stock tips which are stainless to the chrome shop to be plated. They told me that they can't chrome plate stainless but could polish them for me. So unless I'm cornfused I will have stainless polished tips. Am I mistaken.

the stock tips are ceramic coated stainless steel..
the catback tips are just stainless steel...

they can polish the tips, but unless they get the ceramic coating off, they will still be a b*tch to keep clean..

if you get aftermarket stainless tips, they are easier to keep polished by hand..

or something?

Thumbs up

Ahh I see said the blind man.
Ok now I understand where the confusion came from.

The shop is stipping the ceramic coating off with acid or something and will be polishing the tips. Thanks.

Talking

if you remove the ceramic coating, you will be the only Lightning owner with a set of 2-15/16" tips. apparently the "girth", doesn't bother you, as most of us "show-ers" are looking to exhibit 3-1/2 to 4" girth, when tooling around town, or something

stock tips have no girth

You really should dump those skinny little things. I know money doesn't grow on trees (not in my yard anyway) but they sure look undernourished compared to all the bigger ones, especially on black trucks like ours.

Joe: Is it the angle of that pic or are those tips not that "slashcut"...or not to a degree I assumed most Lightning tips were?

Looks nice and that fit is perfect!

They are the same angle as Gators.........that is a Bassani catback kit.

But I did modify it to fit perfectly flush with the ground effect........I did not want it to stick out at all.

Just got my tips back from the chrome shop.

They polished my tips for me. They did acid strip the ceramic coating off and polished the PeePee out of them. These things are like mirrors. My tips may not be as big as yours but they have people watering at the mouth just the same .
