Intercooler Part #??

I was told I have to replace the whole lower manifold. Is this true? Does anyone know the part number for the intercooler, my 99 is leaking bad and of course ford's stupid 'Customer Satisfaction Recall' only lasted from sep01 to sep02. Anyone know where I can get one for the cheapest price as well? Thanx!!

Seems like the owner who didn't have the part replaced between '01 and '02 is the one who's "stupid". The kit you need will include the intercooler and the upper manifold along with some gaskets. I think the service kit is XL3Z-9424-AB. You'll probably be best to double check that by searching some old threads here...

The part number I have is SPO XL3Z 9424 A8 (titled "Kit, Intake Manifold). I was told the kit is about $850 without labor.

Or, you could do what I did before the "fix" came out, use a half a bottle of Bars Leaks. Worked like a champ for 9 months before I traded it in.

From: Colorado,
Just went through you exact same nightmare.

A.Here is where I ended up getting it. http://fordparts.com/
B.No you don't have to do the lower manifold where the injectors are.
C. Check or change your plugs while your in there.
D. Do it yourself it isn't really that hard.
E. Took me 3 hrs. and I ain't no master mechanic.
F. You will find oil and crud in the lower intake, that is normal. Just get a can of brake cleaner and wipe it out.
G. You get gaskets and everthing you need with the kit.
H. The left rear supercharger bolt stays in when you lift it off and don't forget to have it through the hole when you put it back in place.

badazz99l,

Did you get the part yet? If you need I might be able to help?

That could be a sweet deal. I wonder how someone would end up with an extra kit... Hmmm...
