Windshield stress crack

I believe I have another stress crack in the second windshield on my 02 lightning. Crack starts at the bottom below the blackout and cracks upwards around the middle of the wiper on passenger side. There are no stone chips or marks. Ford replaced first windshield under warrenty. Anybody else having cracked glass in this fashion??
Just wondering if this will be a yearly thing...check the oil & change the glass!
Thanks,
Skuter99.

Had mine replaced because of a rock crack but no 'stress' cracks.

My windshield cracked because, like a dummy, I rinsed the truck off with cold water on a hot morning; crrraaaack. The crack starts at the bottom center, curves to the right across the passenger side, about 8 inches from the bottom. The crack is not in my line of vision, so I haven't replaced it yet. This happened about three years ago.

window

Hey skuter99,

I have installed glass for about 12 years now and there is no stress problems with the ford f-150 body style. I have not ran into a stress crack since the release of that body in 96. I am sorry but there is nothing I can tell you that will gurantee a fix

But ask a few questions when you get your window installed. Make sure they are using carlite glass which is the OEM glass. Which also should be the name of the glass in your truck. It will say at the bottom center of the window. Also tell the service writer to tell the autoglass compant that they sublet the glass work to to do a "full cut" instlation. The installer will cut off all the old glue and set the window on a new bed of urethane so that the glue will "hopefully" flex instead of cracking your window.

I hope this helps

JR

thanks Speedfrek,
I will be taking it in today or tomorrow. That is good info for me to take with me.
the first warranty replacement was carlite oem glass. Maybe they did not do the full cut & the old urethane stressed the glass to crack.

Thanks,
Skuter99.
Part of the new revised maintenance schedule. Every three months,
-change oil
-check plugs for tight fit
-change fuel filter
-replace cracked fog lights
-have worn driver's seat bolster replaced
-argue with service rep why my aftermarket SVT floor mats shouldn't void my warranty.

I'm sure I'm missing a few. Still, wouldn't have it any other way. It's all worth it when I turn the key.

No cracked windshield problems here, thankfully.

Angry cracked passenger window

I searched the internet with a description of my cracked windshield and found this thread. My 2013 F150 has the exact same issue. Now I need to see if my extended warranty will cover this.
