dyno with engine at running temp?
I'm going to get my truck dynoed next week and I don't care about getting a super high power number. I just want to get Sal info so he can tune my chip for the most power and stay safe. Does it matter if the truck is hot or cold?

Jerry: You want the eng. oil, diff. fluid, coolant(eng), tires, wheel bearing grease, and trans fluid at operating temps as that will lower frictional losses.
Of course, if you ice down the intake, it should add a little power. I've always driven(2 hours) to my dyno shop and backed it in for strapping down right off the highway while not using ice. Most shops have a turbo-like fan to sit in front of the air intake but I don't think that helps very much.

I always dyno at operating temps. It shows how much power you're making everyday out in traffic. I also think you get more accurate info for your tuner of choice to use, while burning a program for your truck.
Jerry: If this is your first dyno, make sure the rear tires are at the same(32 psi-cold) pressure. Check for proper oil level and coolant before you leave home. I hope your fuel filter is 'fresh'?
On the dyno: Turn the O/D 'off', slowly run it up to 3,000 rpm in Drive(third) while checking the gauges for oil pressure and coolant temp, and then 'mat' it to WOT, hold it until just before the redline, and let off the pedal slowly--don't touch the brake.
Be prepared for the s/c scream---it's going to be gawdawful(wonderful
) loud inside a building at full-song!
Oh, and tell the operator you want a/f ratios too. Hope you make your goals........and, don't forget(like I did.) to get the graphs printed out to send to Sal.

Dan, this will be my first dyno pull but I was in Houston when Sal came down to dyno tune for Halo (my 03 was not in yet). Sal made one of my programs for the dyno...no downshift from third.
I don't really care what the numbers are (I'm only running two pounds extra boost) I just want to be able to give Sal the info so I can have the best "safe" tune I can get.
