Question How to Keep Tar, Bugs, Crap Off Exhaust Tips?

I see a lot of posts in the archives about cleaning technique, but is there anything you guys put on your exhaust tips BEFORE they're dirty to make them easier to clean later? You know, like how waxing your wheels makes it easier to wipe off the brake dust and tar when it's time to wash them. I considered rubbing some wax on the tips (to make bugs and tar stick less), but was afraid the heat would make the wax haze or dull the finish. Any ideas or magical procedures? Is there something you apply (Mother's metal polish) that preserves the finish and provides a nice barrier against road grime?

BTW, I have Bassani tips, but whatever works on stock L tips, Silver Bullets, etc would probably still be helpful!

You have to be proactive.

If you have an old clay bar, clay the tip. Afterwards,. break out a can of mothers and get to polishing.

Everytime you wash the truck, do the tips with wheel cleaner then polish them back up after you have the truck dried.

Yea, i hear ya. I had those on for about 2 months until i got the maggy catback with the 3.5" stainless tips. Hell of a lot easier to keep up, except when it rains, then they are trashed.
