How much should new alternator install cost.

Need top know as Quality Care is going to quote me $350 for the alternator and 70 for install.

420 seems expensive for a $200 part!

I would think that a tech could do it in a half-hour..........? They may have a minimum(one hour?) labor charge though? What's the going rate in Southwest Florida?

That price sounded really high to me so I checked on an alternator from Ford Parts Online and their price was $181.26.

Yeah I know the OEMonline price is 180 + a $75 core charge.
Quality Care is charging $325 for the Alternator which retails for $220.
Labor to install is 1hr at $70.

That's a nice $105 mark-up over retail.

If I install the part myself it no longer has any type of warranty if something goes wrong. Ford's warranty on the Alternator is 1yr or 12,000 miles, which sucks. Napa does'nt carry a 200amp alternator so I can't go that route either.

I can get my stock rebuit for $100 locally but will be without the use of my truck for 2 days.

I guess I will be poor for a week!
