Lightning right purchase?

Hey everyone,

I need to buy a truck here soon and I want one also. I need to be able to tow with the truck--maximum would be 5000lbs (jet skis or boats). Then of course around town and on the highway. It's always been my thing to get a truck that is both fast and tows. From what I've read on here, the Lightning does a very good job of towing fairly small loads. My question would be, can you get a nice Lightning with reasonable miles for around $22,000? Also how does the transmission hold up towing and in general?

Thanks everyone,
Lance

It's a great time to buy a Lightning, they can barely sell new ones... I think that you could find a good used Lightning for $22k pretty easily, right now.

As far as the trans, it should be fine, if you leave it pretty much stock. If you plan on pulling something for the majority of the time you're driving it, I would keep it stock. Otherwise, it would probably hold up fine, even modded, but it's probably the truck's major weak spot, in reguards to towing.

And, heck. At $2000 for a monster box (essentially bulletproof trans by Factory Tech), it's not a bad investment, reguardless.

Good luck in your search!
