Don,

looks good! it was nice meeting you today, it was cool that we got to chat for a while and look over your truck...the funniest part was the look on that guy's face after you told him you just did an 11.1 at 124 miles per hour with it the other day you'll have to come down to our house, my dad and I have a few "old Fords" with that V8 emblem on them to show you HEHE

OK I cleaned her up a little.
Here are some more pics of the surgery, I still have some more triming to do, then I have to sand and paint it. Now I don't have to take the radiator cover off when I hit the track.

I dont get it - Why would you remove the radiator cover or put holes in it for the track ?

Isnt it designed to force air over the radiator ? And then onto the engine ? Is there any advantage of letting the air run around above the engine ?

I guess I am missing something...

Hey Doug

According to Jim it helps in the mph when you run at the track. I don't know how much it really helps, but have you ever noticed if you leave it on when you get back into the pits you have to push the clips back in a little.

I hope to see you in Houston this weekend.

I guess you could trade MPH for cooling efficiency ... If you are using ICE and a big box fan it doesnt make any difference for the strip.

Ill be in Houston around Noon Friday

Ill be the guy sleeping in Gaminos A/C -
"uhh wake me up for the first round"

I don't think you will be the only one hanging out in the A/C
I am still not used to the heat, we finally had our first over 80 degree day yesterday.

I hope I can handle the Texas heat

Talking

Damn Don where do you keep your truck? I have heard of mice and other rodents building nests in peoples air cleaners and stuff. But damn, you got some hungry little creatures in Mass. they ate all kinds of holes in you radiator cover..
All kiding aside I have seen Jim and other people do this and have heard about the mile or two increase in the quarter from removing it. So it should be functional and I am sure when you get it all sanded and color matched to your truck it will look pretty cool. But now you are going to have to add the letter for weight reduction to your mods on the quickest gen 2 1/4 mile list..lol
Talk to you soon my friend and have a safe trip to Texas and back.
Bill

I like your idea of a less drag radiator cover, but you could always go for the Dark Vadar look.....hehe
