Angry Does anybody know what a "One Way Mod" is? I have one.

And I'm pissed. A "One Way Mod" is a mod that goes on and never comes off unless you ruin it.

So I decided to finally put on the Ruslo underdrive pulley set that I got a couple months ago.

But in order to do that, I had to get the lower blower pulley off first. (I need to modify the cage and also get the new drive belt on). I decided on using this lower blower pulley remover tool. It is a 6 point 3/4" socket with a 1/2" drive Snap On breaker bar (18" long) coupled with a 4 1/2 foot long pipe.

The lower pulley has not budged, but the socket is starting to slip off the bolt. If I go any further then there will be a round bolt left on the hub. The only thing left to do at that point will be to unbolt the outer pulley and put a giant monkey wrench around the outer hub. When that happens, the pulley setup will be pretty much useless and I won't be driving the L until I get a new setup. @$#&$(*$^#%$*&@%^&%@$%#&$^%@*$##&$(%&!!!!!

Anybody have any suggestions!!!???

Well theres not any. I used a heating torch on the back of the pulley. But its still going to be trashed. That metal is so soft its like pot-metal. Just took my second one off a mounth ago. Good Luck!

Use lots of anti sieze and use a tool that is sized correct for the type of torque required to remove he part ...

In other words BUY the huge socket and use it - Works everytime...

If you have a 2000 you can just take off the 3 bolts that hold the pulley flange on... The part that the pulley screws into on the crank is bolted on on the 2000's
They are tough to get to but doable...

PS the pully is counter threaded

I had put never sieze on it before I installed it at the end of last summer. It is an '01, and I know it is reverse threaded.

Now it is officially ruined...

@%$#& #&#%@V !@^##@ !(*@ !!!!!! WHat a waste!

I used a 3 or 3 1/12 in socket can't remember the size, but the hub came off and left the spindle on. So I destroyed it with a pipe wrench. Oh I broke my first pipe wrench! Oh thats just too funny!!

At this point Id say a pipe wrench with good teeth is the best choice. Ive seen a number of pics of JDM's pulley( which by the way looks just like yours) That have had to be mangled much, much worse to get them off.

The best way to never have this problem is to NEVER NEVER buy the caged pulley! I guess now I'm glad I never got the orignal caged pulley and went with the non caged one.

Looks like a 2 3/4 in. socket. I'm going to see if home depot or sears has one. But then that creates problems when I ruin it and can't drive it, or I have to put the stock setup back on.

Edit: ******* it. I'm calling JDM tomorrow morning. I live 45 min away from them, and I am going to see what they say they'll do for me. I could easily put everything back together right now and drive it.

That sounds like a better plan.....

Another reason why I'm glad I didn't pay 400+ for a caged pulley setup.

I bought a 2 3/4" socket at a local auto parts store. Of course Home Depot didn't have anything and Sears only had up to 2 3/8".

I got the socket and the thing won't budge. I am on a mission. I have to get this thing off. I broke an SK, 1/2" drive ratchet on it so far and scratched my hood with the pipe. I have to get this off...but I am running out of time today.

The old style setup that I helped DanSS get off last week was a helluvalot easier to get off!

Drive it to JDM and pay them book rate to remove the $400+ caged pulley setup. That's the LEAST they could do for you!
