Lightning 3rd Brake Light (Bulbs)

Just got a Lightning 3rd brake light. had no problems installing it like some that I had heard on this site. However, I read all about it and new exactly what to do. Anyway, the LED's look awsome, but the cargo lights look a little dim, what size bulbs do they take? I saw PIAA has LED wedge bulbs (blue or white) and think they may look pretty cool. I noticed they were wedge bulbs, but didn't see any numbers on them, so if anyone knows there bulbs, please let me know.

912 I think....maybe someone else will chime in and correct me if I am wrong.
I have been wanting to put in some kind of "hyper-white" bulbs in mine also.

lightning depot headlights

Yeah, your right about no LED lights yet. I ordered the PIAA Xtreme White bulbs, for $10, I'll try them. I'll let you know if they make a difference.

Thumbs up

Ok, here are the pics:

I like the blue hue from the bulbs, goes good with my blue truck. I also like the way it darkens them when they are off. I still want LED's, but these will due for now. These are PIAA Extreme White, size W2.

You have to see these at night, what an improvement. The pic doesn't do justice.

Harley#356, they are 18W, I don't know what the stock bulbs are, but I don't think 18W will fry that wiring. Here is the link where I got them. http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/ltbmotorsport/bulbs.html , I just searched for the cheapest price. They only took 3 days to arrive.

Cool! thanks for the info. gonna definately have to do this, even though my cargo light is useless with my fiberglass tonneau cover. just can't have those yellow stock bulbs though

2 more quick questions
-the stock bulbs just pop right out correct? (yea i know stupid question. LoL)

-on that page, is that order form for 1 bulb or a set of 2?

Harley#356, yeah, mine are useless when I have my cover on too, but these are worth it. It should be P/N: P19224 for $10.87, this is for a twin pack, jap packaging, but I don't think they offer the W2 in the US packaging. Like it matters.... Anyway, installation is a snap, unscrew the light, twist and lift the bulb seal, pull out the old bulb and push in the new one, I would not touch these bulbs either (like the headlight bulbs) use a cloth or at least clean them with alcohol and dry before lighting. Note, before putting everything together, light them up and make sure they light, it says that reversed polarity will cause them not to light.

so, did we ever verify if these are the same wattage as OEM?

I wouldn't mind these but I definately don't want to fry anything!

For 2 weeks I have been running the PIAA Extreme White (W2 PIAA ) in my '03 L cargo lights with no problem. Not sure if the wattage of the PIAA's is the same as the stock cargo light bulb.
Major difference between the look/light with those PIAA's in.
