has this idea been done yet?
there is a guy who comes to the shop where i hang out and he has a 1998 expedition, with a kenne bell autorotor pushing around six pounds. after talking to the store owner who also has an "L" he now wants a build bottm end and more boost, baiscally he want's an expedtion as fast or faster than a "stock" "L"
so, what do you guy's think?
so, what do you guy's think?
Good luck... With the weight he has, he'll probably need 500hp or so to the wheels... Just a crappy guesstimate, but probably close.
Lightning motor with heavy mods? The tranny will need to be beefed up for sure...
Heck, for what it'll cost him to do everything to his Expy... He might as well buy a used Lightning!

My question is WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO DO THAT
I mean ya I guess the Expedition / Navigator is a nice SUV
but it stops there. Why would you want a Lightning Fast School Bus ???
Just my Opinion but a Lightning is BEAUTIFUL,
it handles great,
it looks great,
it's fast as Schitt
and it's small enough to truly enjoy as a sports car
But an Expedition / Navigator is THE FAMILY CAR
NOT A HOT ROD ???

Thats funny you should ask that.Thats the very same question that most car guys ask us about the Lightning.WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO DO THAT?The answer is,if you have to explain it to them, they wouldnt understand it anyway.

Nobody or no vehicle has exclusive rights on speed. I always admire the guy who goes above and beyond the norm to accomplish something. It's going to be tough to get a vehicle that size to get up to that kind of speed, but if we didn't have people like that, we would all be driving around in 4 cylinder Escorts.
Let's get this back on topic.
Yes, people have tried to hot rod the KB kits for Expy/Pickup before. The kits make very little bang for the buck and that's why he's not satisfied. The kit has no intercooler and no room to add one. It also uses the stock plastic intake manifold. The whole thing does not make for a good platform, especially for upgrading. I used to spend a lot of time at https://www.f150online.com/forums/fo...?s=&forumid=60 and https://www.f150online.com/forums/fo...s=&forumid=24. Check them out, that is where you will find people who have been there and done that to their Expys.
oh yeah:
the KB kit (many KB kits actually, just look at the pics on the website) uses an adapter plate and adapts an off-the-shelf blower to bolt to the stock intake manifold. Funny that KB attacks WORKS for this in their L propaganda, saying adapter plates and off-the-shelf blowers "lack class."
more and more the more i look the better the WORKS looks. JDM will you please get some WORKS blowers this summer so I can shut some people up??
