which system?

Ok here is the dilemma. Right now I can get a used Borla exhaust system for very cheap money and get it installed at the same time. But from what I hear it does not seem to be very loud. I was looking at a MAC system because for the money it sounds the best . How does the Borla compare to the Mac sound or does it compare. Keep in mind I want something decently loud and not mistaken for stock.

The Borla looks nice. Nice SS tips and all. I think the MAC has chrome tips and I'm not sure about the muffler it self.
Borla is pretty quiet a little louder than stock but not much. I've never had a MAC so I don't know what it sounds like, but have read that it is louder.
I have had the following on my truck and I like what I have now the best.
1. stock
2. borla
3. straight pipes
4. stock
5. JDM (long tubes, high flow cats, x pipe and dual oval mufflers)
6. JDM (long tubes, gutted high flow cats, x pipe and dual oval mufflers)

thanks easter now I just have to figure out what I want to do. How does the borla sound when you get on it? Is it alot louder than stock. For the money I want to make the right choice and not go back on my decision.

The only one I have heard is the MAC now I just need to hear the Borla.

I have the Mac now, and I've heard the Borla. The Borla wouldn't get mistaken for stock, but it is very subdued, compared to the other aftermarket systems. However, build quality on the Borla is second to none - You won't have to worry about any problems, especially with the 'million mile warranty' they have.

The Mac sounds great. It has a nice, low rumble at idle, a deep tone (definitely louder than stock) while cruising, and is VERY loud at WOT. The tips look great when you first install the system. I've had the system for almost a year now, and my tips are showing rust on the outside. They showed rust on the outside after about a month, but I took care of that by spraying the inside of the tips with a high-temp paint. The muffler and pipes, however, still look like the day I took them out of the box. I was thinking of picking up a good SS tip, and it'll probably last quite a while, without problems.

Really, for less than $300 for the exhaust, you can't beat the Mac. I wish I could afford the Bassani, but I have a house, wife, and kid, which take precidence... Mods are last on the list.

Well I could not justfiy spending $600 some odd dollars on an exhaust system that gets little to know performance gains compared to a $300 one. And for the small difference in tone its not worth it.

As for the MAC vs the Borla I want to be sure i will be happy with the Borla if I buy it. I know the MAc is loud enough but im not sure about the Borla.
