question about intercooler

I went out and bought the newer Intercooler because I missed the recall. Well the mechanic putting my motor in told me that it wouldn,t work. Do I need to get a new lower intake or is there a adaptor plate. I would appreciate (sp) any help you could give me. Thanks in advance.

You have to get a 99 or 00 replacement intercooler. The 01 and up intercoolers bolt on different. The recall replaced the intercooler to the newer design but the 01's bolted on different and Ford wasn't going to replace the intercooler and superchargers. So we got a Stuck with this one of a kind replacement. Call SVT to get the PN. Hope this helps.

You ordered just the intercooler? There's a kit out there that has everything you need. It has an adapter casting that makes the new intercoolers work with the '99-'00s.

See if you can return the intercooler and get the kit.
